An Exciting Day In The Lower School In similar fashion to their upper school counterparts, lower school students had an opportunity to learn beyond the walls without even leaving campus thanks to two special events on Wednesday, March 5. Students began their day with a visit from Herman Parish, the author of the Amelia Bedelia book series. Mr. Parish delighted students with stories of how his aunt, Peggy Parish, created Amelia Bedelia and how he now carries on her legacy following her passing in 1988. There was even a surprise visit from Amelia Bedelia herself! (Thank you Laura Yakunovich!)
Later in the day, a team from SeaWorld San Antonio brought to campus a variety of reptiles and birds. Students were delighted when the Australian kookaburra let out his distinctive laugh. The flight of the roseate spoonbill across the MPR was thrilling. The highlight of the presentation however, was the appearance of Pete and Penny, the South American penguins!
