Joshua Academic Center

Join us for the dedication of the Joshua Academic Center and David Gymnasium Tuesday, February 18, 2014 3:45 p.m. Our Warrior band will perform and KSBJ personalities Jennifer Reyna and Johnny B. will be on hand to help us celebrate! Tours of the new buildings will be available following the dedication ceremony.

The auction committee is actively seeking donations for the silent auction and bid boards. The success of our event is largely dependent upon the generous donations from our families, community members and business owners. No item is too large or too small! Houston Rockets Rock The Bid Board! (Estimated value $2,600)

Calling all sports fans! This year’s bid board will feature four (4) tickets for the exciting match up between the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs on April 14, 2014. The high bidder and three (3) friends will watch the game from the third row behind the Rockets’ bench. Two (2) parking passes are also included. The game is April 14th at 7:00pm. So come and enjoy the Auction/Gala, and then the next weekend enjoy watching the Rockets from these premium seats!

Upper School News Band Concert Music filled the air at Woodlands Christian as the fifth grade, middle school and high school bands, under the direction of Mr. Charlton Hughes, presented their winter concert on Wednesday, February 11. The fifth grade band started off the evening on the right note with selections that included the toe tapping Trombone Rag. The middle school alto saxophone quartet then played a wonderful rendition of Spring from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. The middle school band entertained the audience with The Crown of Castile and theme music from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The high school band closed out the evening with A Night In Tunisia by Dizzy Gillespie, and a medley of songs from the Broadway musical, Les Miserables. Special congratulations to the students receiving honors at the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) competition as follows: Chelsea Ledbetter, area band; Stephen Milian and Jackson Mulville, region band; Meagan Allen, first chair honors band. What a wonderful evening of music!

Life Skills Class Prepares Treats For Band Concert Mrs. Diana Dew’s middle school life skills students used their class time to prepare fresh Valentine’s cookies for those attending the band concert on Wednesday evening. The students rolled out the dough and used heart shaped cookie cutters to prepare their treats. After baking, the students used their creativity to decorate the cookies.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Basketball Closes Out The Regular Season The boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams played their final home games of the regular season on Friday, February 7. The Warrior boys kept fans on the edge of their seats with a 45-43 overtime victory against St. Joseph High School. The Warrior girls were not as fortunate coming away with a 25-38 loss. On Tuesday, February 11, the Warriors were on the road for games against Brazos

Warrior Golf The varsity golf team braved wintry conditions on Monday, February 10 when they competed in the Faith West Invitational in Katy. Congratulations to the girls’ team for finishing in second place! The team was led by Haven Albeiz who finished in 5th place overall. Way to go Warrior golf!

Warrior Baseball The Warrior varsity baseball team continues to play games and tournaments in anticipation of their district schedule in March. The team is on the road for the Texas Private School Classic, February 13-15. Warrior baseball returns to co-host the Woodlands Christian/John Cooper Baseball Classic, February 20-21. This tournament will be followed by the John Cooper Round Robin held on February 27 - March 1. Go Warrior baseball!

Christian. The boys’ varsity posted a 61-79 loss and the girls’ varsity also came away with a 29-39 loss. The final games of the regular season will be played on the road against Katy Faith West on Thursday, February 13. The results of these games will determine district playoff spots for both varsity teams. Go Warrior basketball!

Warrior Swimming Your Warrior varsity swim team will be in San Antonio on Friday, February 14 to compete in the TAPPS state swim meet to be held at the Josh Davis Natatorium. All God’s best to our Warrior swimmers!

Warrior Softball Varsity softball gets underway on Friday, February 14 with a home scrimmage against the SMGSL Scorpions with the first pitch scheduled for 4:20 p.m. Go Warrior softball!
