2015-2016 Parent Student Handbook The Woodlands Christian Academy (Woodlands Christian), founded in 1993, is an interdenominational Christian, college preparatory, day school governed by a self-perpetuating Governance Board. The school enrolls students Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. We proudly graduated our first class in 2001. The Woodlands Christian Academy is accredited by AdvancED, and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The 2015-2016 Parent Student Handbook has been revised and updated to provide parents and students[1] with the critical information they will need about the programs, policies, and procedures of the school. We hope that new families will find this to be a valuable tool in their transition to Woodlands Christian, and that returning families will read it to review policies and note changes in previous policy and procedure. Read this handbook carefully at the outset of the school year, and keep it available for reference throughout the year. The Woodlands Christian Academy believes that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. The Woodlands Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other schooladministered programs.
