Upper School News Band Concert The middle and high school band, under the direction of Mr. Charlton Hughes, presented their fall concert on Tuesday evening, October 7. The middle school band delighted the audience with the Spanishthemed Macarena by Bernadino Monterde (not the pop song!), and the Asian inspired Bushido by Michael Story. The high school band showed their jazz side with their performance of Nardis by Miles Davis. They closed the evening with the stirring Prelude and Firestorm by Roland Barrett. Be sure to mark your calendar for the next performance of the middle and high school bands. Their winter concert is scheduled for December 4, 2014. This concert will also feature the fifth grade band.
Dragon Boat Race Woodlands Christian high school students recently participated in the YMCA’s annual Dragon Boat Race on Lake Woodlands. This event features six different team activities with the highlight being the dragon boat race. The dragon boats are forty feet long, weigh over 1800 pounds and are transported yearly to The Woodlands from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Dragon Boat Race benefits YMCA outreach programs which serve hundreds of at risk youth by affording them the opportunity to participate in YMCA youth development and leadership programs at no charge.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Cross Country Update Our cross country runners continue to work hard and the results are showing! Every morning they start the day at 6:30 a.m., and put in a lot of work before school. Continue to pray for health and rest for all of them! Last week at the Bellaire/St. Thomas Episcopal meet we continued to race very well. In fact, all of our middle school runners and 13 of our 18 high school runners set personal best times. Hannah Shearer recently reset a new school record for the two mile run and Alex Yanochik ran the third fastest 5k time in our program’s history! (Photo center: Grant Galassini,
Up next, the Warrior Cross Country team competes at the Faith West Academy meet on Saturday, October 11. IMPORTANT NOTE - On Saturday, October 18 we will host over 50 different schools for our 3rd Annual Woodlands Christian Cross Country meet. This event coincides with the CASA Super Hero run. Swim Season Begins Three school records fell at the first swim meet of the season! The Warriors opened up the 2014-2015 season by breaking records, setting personal best times and overall performing well at the Tomball Fall Kick-Off. Jake Pollitt broke school records in both the 50 yard freestyle (10th place) and the 100 yard butterfly (11th place). Jake Copeland broke his own school record by swimming a personal best in the 100 yard freestyle. Also stacking up points for the Warriors were Katie Albertson, Hannah Bub, and Hailey Hanigan. Katie swam a personal best time and finished 15th place on the 200 yard freestyle. Hannah was the 100 yard freestyle champion and finished 5th in the 50 yard freestyle. Hailey rounded out the girls' points with a 12th place finish on the 100 yard butterfly. Oscar Pollitt swam best times on both the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. This season promises to be a great one! We are looking to grow the team by a few more swimmers. If you are a high school student and would like to be part of a great team, contact Coach Bub at srbkrb@sbcglobal.net. Warrior Swimming - Warrior Strong!
