Lower School News  

Storybook Day Parade On Friday, October 2, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students (and their teachers!) dressed as their favorite storybook characters and held a grand parade across campus. And they lived happily ever after‌.

Upper School News

Save The Eggs!

Mrs. Masau’s college prep physics classes were assigned the task of constructing a parachute to allow a raw egg in a Ziploc bag to safely land on concrete 16.4 feet below their drop point. Parachutes of all shapes and sizes were created and a handful slowed their egg-passenger enough to not even suffer so much as a hairline fracture! Most eggs sustained minor cracks with or without minimal oozing. In addition, students were tasked with calculating the final velocity of their eggs on impact.

Not to be outdone, the AP physics class will soon construct catapults from which they will launch baseballs!

Students and Teachers Are Thriving!

In keeping with our theme of Thrive, high school teachers are given the opportunity each quad to recognize students who are thriving in the classroom each. Congratulations to all of those recognized!

On the flip side, students have the opportunity to select a Teacher of the Quad. To be considered for this honor, a faculty member must model and support the mission of The Woodlands Christian Academy, develop relationships with students, and exhibit exemplary teaching.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS

Warriors Score Second District Win The Warriors notched their second district win with a 24-21 victory over St. Joseph on Friday, October 2. The team is now 2-0 in district and 3-2 overall.

District play continues when the Warriors take to the road for a game against Bay Area Christian in League City on October 9. The team will have a break from district action when they face Legacy Christian in the homecoming game on October 16.

Warrior Volleyball Update The Warrior varsity volleyball team has suffered back to back losses in their recent games with St. Joseph (1-3) and Faith West (2-3). The team looks to turn things around when they travel to Logos Prep on October 8.

The Warriors return home October 13 to face St. Thomas Episcopal.

Warriors Host CASA Run And Middle School Meet We had tremendous support for the CASA run on campus this past Saturday. THANK YOU to all those that helped set up our course on campus and then helped clean up. It was a huge success with an estimated 1,500 people on campus. There were a number of comments about how beautiful our campus was and how well the races were organized. Our very own Head of School, Julie Ambler, finished second in the masters division of the 5K race!

On the same day, our middle school team hosted cross country races with 12 schools in the competition. The girls’ team won the meet and the boys’ team finished in second place overall.

While all the excitement was happening here on campus, our high school cross country athletes were at the Bellaire/St. Thomas Episcopal meet. The meet featured over 30 of the largest private schools in our area as well as many public schools. In the small school division, our boys’ team finished in third place overall. In spite of missing four runners (they were taking the SAT!), the girls’ team earned sixth place overall.

Both the middle and high school teams will compete in the Faith West Academy Invitational on Saturday, October 10.

The homecoming queen and king are members of the senior class and are elected by popular vote by all high school students.

PRE-GAME DEDICATION CEREMONY Please join us as we formally dedicate the Warrior Track (in honor of Coach Tom Earle), Woodforest Field and Warrior Stadium.

Julie Ambler, Head of School, will offer a prayer of dedication and thanksgiving prior to the kick-off of the football game.

This is a momentous event in the history of our school so please make every effort to be in your seat before kick-off!

(The football game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.)
