Head Of School Notes - by Julie Ambler Each year, The Woodlands Christian Academy holds an auction & gala to promote fellowship and raise funds for our school. This year’s auction will be held on Saturday, April 23 at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. Richie’s Pharmacy has generously agreed to be our event sponsor with a $50,000 donation. Thanks to Robin and Mark Bennett for chairing this year’s event. I am also grateful to CeCe and Richie Ray for agreeing to chair our next auction in 2017. Historically, we have always included a fund-a-need at our auction. Last year, we donated 100% of our net proceeds toward the construction of a track, synthetic turf and stadium seating. This year, we will apply 100% of our net auction proceeds toward need-based financial aid. We will apply a portion of the proceeds raised at auction to financial assistance for 2016-2017 and a portion to a permanent endowment for financial aid in the future. Woodlands Christian has always reserved a small pool of funds for families with demonstrated financial need. Applicants must apply to FACTS, our third-party financial aid assessment provider, and submit tax returns, W-2s and other documentation to confirm need. Woodlands Christian seeks to assist students who would be a blessing to our school community – spiritually, academically, physically and socially. Recipients are confidential but they represent members of our faculty/staff, families in full-time ministry, existing families with short-term needs, and other outstanding students who could not otherwise afford to attend Woodlands Christian. Sadly, our funds are very limited, and we are often unable to assist many of the deserving students who apply for aid. We believe that designating these auction proceeds to more such worthy students will bless existing, as well as future, students and increase our ability to impact Christ’s kingdom for eternity. To visually build upon our goal of hunting for and equipping warriors for Christ, this year’s theme is Safari. Plan to wear your wildest animal prints or khakis and, please, join us in building a diverse community of future warriors, encouraging each other to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let The Book Bugs Bite! Tuesday - Friday November 3-6 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (The book fair will close at noon on Friday, November 6) All of the proceeds from the book sales directly benefit The Woodlands Christian Academy library.

Cross Country Teams Place Second In State Meet The TAPPS Cross Country State Championship this year was the toughest ever, both in competition and conditions. We knew that our competition would be very challenging, but it was the weather that made this race a test of courage and fortitude. On the girls’ side, as defending state champions, we knew we would face some tough competition but were ready for the challenge. In the individual competition, Hannah Shearer placed first with Olivia Gregory coming in third out of 127 girls. Shearer and Gregory both were named 1st Team AllState. In the team competition, the girls earned the State Runner-Up trophy finishing in second place. (See photo bottom left.) Our girls’ varsity team has dominated the state competition the past three years by placing 2nd, 1st, and 2nd respectively. The boys’ team scored a tremendous upset! We were ranked sixth going into the race but the conditions (mud, rain) favored our training and the tenacity to grind and keep pushing when other teams were giving up. One week ago, we finished third in our district meet behind St. Thomas Episcopal and Faith West Academy. At the state meet, both of those
schools finished in 5th and 6th place respectively while our guys shocked the competition and finished as State Runner-Up! (See photo bottom right.) The course conditions were abysmal; so much so that Bryan Bunselmeyer, Executive Director of TAPPS issued a special statement which reads in part: At times it is easy to walk away from a challenge or to quit when the going gets too tough. The over 1300 runners who started the races proved champions over the course throughout the day. Shoes, socks and probably more than a few tears were left on the muddy and wet terrain. To those who stood on the trailer at the end of the day – congratulations for your efforts that brought you victory; to those who completed the course – congratulations for overcoming a significant challenge with inner fortitude and strength; and for those who were forced to abandon the attempt due to injury – congratulations for stepping to the line, competing hard and accepting the challenge. ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warriors In Three Way Tie For First Place
With their 62-13 victory over Lutheran North last week, the Warriors are now in a three way tie for first place in District 4. This sets up a must win situation for the Warriors as they prepare to host Legacy Prep this Friday, November 6 at Warrior Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Come early, stay late and get loud! Go Warrior Football!
Warrior Swim Season Begins Congratulations to Katie Albertson, Hannah Bub, Jake Copeland, Danyon Decker, Meredith Frey and Mason Swanner on an excellent season opener at the Tomball Halloween Invitational Swim Meet. It was only the first meet of the season, but personal best times, school records and gold medals were all achieved! Katie scored points for the team in the 50 freestyle (9th) and 100 freestyle (16th). Hannah brought home the gold and silver in the 50 and 500 freestyles. Jake finished 8th in both the 50 and 100 freestyles with personal best times. The team's newest members, Meredith, Danyon and Mason all swam personal best times with Mason breaking the school's 100 breaststroke record! We were the only private school at this meet and to have 13 out of 16 swims score points is an amazing accomplishment! Way to go Warriors! Information submitted by Coach Kathryn Bub.

Please join us in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth and bringing joy to a child in need by packing a shoebox. Our goal is to collect 580 shoeboxes! IMPORTANT - NEW INFORMATION FOR 2015! We are asking that all shoeboxes be dropped off on the dates as follows: Middle and high school - Monday, November 16 Lower school - Wednesday, November 18 These are chapel days and dropping off all boxes on these days will allow us to pray over the boxes before they are taken to the distribution center.
