Head Of School Named To Board Of Summit Ministries
The Woodlands Christian Academy is pleased to announce that, after a year long review process, Julie Ambler, Head of School has been named to the Board of Directors of Summit Ministries in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Founded in 1962 by Dr. David Noebel, Summit Ministries is one of the foremost leaders in training Christians in apologetics, worldview analysis, and social engagement. Under the direction of Dr. Jeff Myers, Summit reaches thousands of students per year through its various programs, encouraging Christians to stand strong in their faith and defend truth, equipping them to have a positive influence on the society in which they live. Summit Ministries is most known for its intensive summer worldview conferences for students age 16-22. These conferences help ground young people in their faith, thereby enabling them to face the barrage of challenges whirling about college campuses. Additionally, Summit offers adult worldview conferences for parents, pastors and educators. Summit Ministries is heartily endorsed by Dr. James Dobson and Josh McDowell whose children attended Summit student conferences.
Mrs. Ambler became acquainted with Summit Ministries in 2011 when she invited Dr. Jeff Myers to conduct training sessions with our faculty on mentoring young people. Mrs. Ambler looks forward to building relationships with other Christian leaders, championing a biblical worldview within our school curriculum, sending Woodlands Christian faculty and students to Summit events, and strengthening the faith of Christians worldwide through her board service to Summit Ministries. Locally, Mrs. Ambler serves our community as a board member of The Rotary Club of The Woodlands and Leadership Montgomery County, where she is slated to serve as Chairman for the 2016-2017 school year. According to Mrs. Ambler, “If we are to equip future leaders at Woodlands Christian, we must be leaders ourselves and let our students see us serving others in our community and strengthening the body of Christ.” Congratulations, Mrs. Ambler!

Upper School News  
Senior Chapel 2015 The Class of 2015 presented their senior chapel on Tuesday, May 5. The ceremony was opened in prayer by Travis Ray. (See photo below center.) Dirk Sanford and Lauren Hobbs followed with a reading of the class scriptures. Kyle Kontor presented the Senior Challenge to the Class of 2016 (See photo at left). The service was highlighted by a special video presentation featuring the senior class. Stephen Milian closed the service with prayer. In keeping with Woodlands Christian tradition, the senior class passed the torch to the junior class signifying the passing of leadership from the Class of 2015 to the Class of 2016. (See photos below.) The graduating class will be honored at a baccalaureate service on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. Commencement exercises are scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 4:00 p.m. Both events will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church.

Warrior Track & Field Boys Win Regional Championship It was another amazing week for the varsity track and field team. Our boys team won their first ever regional championship title! The girls team placed third and for the third consecutive year is ranked in the top three for the south region. We have qualified more athletes in more events than ever for the State Championships at Baylor on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9.

Warrior Track & Field Athlete Earns Rotary Club Honor
Congratulations to Alexandra Harkins on being named the Rotary Club All Montgomery County Female Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award includes an $800 scholarship. Way to go Alex!

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Football Welcomes New Head Coach The Woodlands Christian Academy Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Mike Crocker will coach our varsity football team beginning this fall. In addition to his duties as head football coach, he will also teach physical education. He comes to Woodlands Christian from Logos Prep where he has been the athletic director for the past three years. Coach Crocker began his coaching career at Shiloh Christian School in Arkansas under now Auburn University coach Gus Malzahn. He made his way to Texas in 2005 and has coached football and baseball at Klein Collins High School and Tomball High School. In 2010 he joined the staff at Northland Christian where he helped the Cougars to the 2012 TAPPS Division II state championship game as the offensive coordinator. Crocker takes the reins from Coach Nate Sanford who has been with Woodlands Christian since 2011. Coach Sanford was recently named as director of Carolina Creek Christian Camps in Huntsville, Texas. Welcome to Warrior Nation Coach Crocker, and all God’s best to Coach Sanford and his family!
Athletes Sign Letters Of Intent On Wednesday, May 6, The Woodlands Christian Academy Athletic Department held a signing ceremony for the members of the Class of 2015 who will be competing in sports at the college level. Congratulations to Hannah Gray, Abilene Christian University, cheerleading; Mary Catherine Fletcher, Yale University, gymnastics; Jack Bento, Midland University, football; PJ Glover, Southern University, football, and Dirk Sanford, Harding University, football.

Warrior Baseball Season Ends The Warrior varsity baseball team ended their season on May 2 with a district playoff game against Austin Brentwood Christian resulting in a 4-5 loss. The team finished the season with a 7-5 district record and an overall record of 9-14. Go Warrior baseball!
