Head Of School Notes - by Julie Ambler The Warrior Derby was a resounding success! I am thrilled to report that we grossed $2.6 million and will be able to finish the track, add synthetic turf, and construct stadium seating! The ultimate size and finish-out of our stadium seating is dependent upon cost bids that we are currently seeking. The track and turf should be finished in time for football season. Given the 135-day delivery estimate for the metal stands, the stadium seating may not be complete until mid-October, but we will proceed as quickly as possible to complete construction. I am so grateful to this year’s auction committee for their tireless efforts to create a stunningly beautiful gala and a record-breaking auction, and I am humbled by the overwhelming generosity of our families. (Photo at left - Gayle and Steve Brand, 2015 Warrior Derby Chairs.)

First Grade Explores Land Forms
First grade students learned geography in a cooperative setting by playing a memory game to identify land forms. Students read definitions on cards and then matched them with the drawings of the correct land forms.

Pre-Kindergarten Visits Wildlife Park Pre-kindergarten students had an up close and personal experience with the animals at TGR Exotic Wildlife Park on a recent field trip.

Student Council Raises Funds For Water Wells
The Student Council raised $1,500 for Living Water International by sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins dance. Living Water International is based in Stafford, Texas and exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities around the world acquire desperately needed clean water and to experience living water - the gospel of Jesus Christ. Students Awarded Internships
The Education for Tomorrow Alliance recently awarded internships to high school students in our area including two from Woodlands Christian. Congratulations to Brook Farrelly who will intern in the marketing department of The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce and to Meagan Powers who will intern in the energy engineering department at TETRA Technologies.

Warrior Track Boys & Girls Win District Championship
What an amazing week! For the fourth consecutive year, the girls’ team won the district championship and the boys’ team won their first district title! There were numerous personal or season best marks, and seven school records were set. Our team is at their top conditioning and performance levels heading into the TAPPS south regional meet in Bastrop, Texas on April 30. The top four finishers will qualify for the TAPPS state meet which will be held on May 8-9 at Baylor University.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Baseball Qualifies For District Playoffs
Warrior varsity baseball closed out the regular season with two important wins. The first was an 11-2 win over Faith West on April 23, the second was a 26-3 win over O’Connell on April 29. In their final home game of the regular season the team posted a 5-8 loss to Bay Area on April 28. Their record now stands at 7-5 in district, and 9-13 overall. The wins were enough to qualify the Warriors for the district playoffs which begin Saturday, May 2. The Warriors will travel to Austin to face Brentwood Christian. Lands’ End Warrior Fit Event Woodlands Christian is partnering with Lands’ End to host our WARRIOR FIT EVENT! Representatives from Lands’ End will be on campus to assist with specific recommendations for the successful selection of uniform wear for your student.
!Students accompanied by teachers and assigned representatives from Woodlands Christian, will meet with Lands’ End trained experts for sizing and suggestions. Classes will rotate through the SLC according to the schedule as follows:

Inclement weather day was not needed this year so we are able to enjoy a bonus school holiday!
School Nurse Day
!
National School Nurse Day is Wednesday, May 6. In Texas alone, school nurses promote the health of more than 5.1 million students! Woodlands Christian is blessed to have not just one but two registered nurses on staff. Additionally, both women hold Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing. Thank you Felicia Noah and Angela Kontor for your dedication and your outstanding care of our students!
Eagle Scout Project — Shoe Drive
!
Sam Powers, a member of our freshman class, has chosen as his Eagle Scout project to collect shoes for the orphans of Zambia. These children are under the full time care of Family Legacy Missions international. (See photo at left.)
!
Gently used or new athletic shoes, Crocs, and dress shoes ranging in size from children’s size four to adult size ten will be collected until May 15. Donation bins are located in the MPR.
