Head Of School Notes -- by Julie Ambler This year has really flown by, and it’s hard to believe that graduation is just eight weeks away! In four weeks, we will hold our annual auction and gala at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. (Click here for details and to purchase tickets.) The Warrior Derby promises to be a memorable night of fun, fellowship, fundraising and elegant hats. You won’t want to miss it! This year, and thanks to Richie’s Pharmacy for sponsoring the costs of the event, 100% of our net auction proceeds will be applied toward the construction of a 400-meter eight-lane track. In hopeful anticipation of raising the needed funds for the track (and thanks to an anonymous donation of $1 million, $130,000 from the annual fund and $33,000 from the Booster Club’s Sporting Clay Tournament), we have already begun the dirt work so that the track can be completed by the start of school in August. If we raise more than the additional $190,000 needed to complete the track, we hope to add turf to the field. Installing turf at the same time as the track would cut the cost of turf in half, to approximately $575,000. A turf field will enable all of our students to use the field for football, soccer and other sports throughout the year. If we exceed that goal, the cost of stadium seating for 1,500 spectators would be another $475,000. This is an exciting time at Woodlands Christian, and we look forward to improving our athletic offerings and facilities through a successful auction.
