Head Of School Notes -- by Julie Ambler This year has really flown by, and it’s hard to believe that graduation is just eight weeks away! In four weeks, we will hold our annual auction and gala at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. (Click here for details and to purchase tickets.) The Warrior Derby promises to be a memorable night of fun, fellowship, fundraising and elegant hats. You won’t want to miss it! This year, and thanks to Richie’s Pharmacy for sponsoring the costs of the event, 100% of our net auction proceeds will be applied toward the construction of a 400-meter eight-lane track. In hopeful anticipation of raising the needed funds for the track (and thanks to an anonymous donation of $1 million, $130,000 from the annual fund and $33,000 from the Booster Club’s Sporting Clay Tournament), we have already begun the dirt work so that the track can be completed by the start of school in August. If we raise more than the additional $190,000 needed to complete the track, we hope to add turf to the field. Installing turf at the same time as the track would cut the cost of turf in half, to approximately $575,000. A turf field will enable all of our students to use the field for football, soccer and other sports throughout the year. If we exceed that goal, the cost of stadium seating for 1,500 spectators would be another $475,000. This is an exciting time at Woodlands Christian, and we look forward to improving our athletic offerings and facilities through a successful auction. Upper School News Warriors Beyond The Walls Middle and high school students spent the week before Spring Break traveling across the Atlantic Ocean, across the United States, and the state of Texas. These annual class trips are one of the many things that makes an education at The Woodlands Christian Academy unique.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Track Update During Spring Break we took the opportunity to squeeze in a track meet at Concordia Lutheran in Tomball on March 20. It was a nasty, cold and rainy day. We only had nine boys and eight girls from our team and went up against 11 other schools. In spite of that, the boys finished in 6th place overall, and the girls finished in 2nd place! Way to go!

There were a number of highlights: • Emily Rogers set a new school record in the shot put of 31’11” and earned a gold medal! • Brad Fisher set a new school record in the high jump as he jumped 6' for the win! • Darcy Sanford won the silver medal in the discus. • Madeleine Tatum set a personal best mark in the shot put. • Morgan Young won gold in the pole vault. • Darcy Sanford (silver) and Sarah Fletcher (bronze) set personal best times in the 100m hurdles. • Hannah Shearer medaled in both the 3200m (bronze) and 1600m (silver). • Ryan Doner set a personal best time in the 400m and earned a bronze medal. • Morgan Young earned a silver medal in the 100m. • Raul Giorgi won gold in both the 200m and 100m.

On Saturday, March 28 we will compete in the Houston Christian Mickey Riggs relays. Our girls’ team has won this meet for three consecutive years, and we look for both our boys’ and girls’ teams to do very well. Information provided by Coach Tom Earle.
Warrior Baseball and Softball Seasons Now Underway! Warrior baseball and softball season is here! District games have begun and fans will have several opportunities to see both teams in the coming weeks. The varsity baseball team hosts Faith West on Thursday, March 26 with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The team will then take to the road and return home on Thursday, April 2 for a district game with O’Connell College Preparatory School. Scheduled start time is 6:30 p.m. The varsity softball team will also host O’Connell on April 2 to begin a three game home stand. The team faces St. Joseph on Tuesday, April 7 followed by Lutheran North on Thursday, April 9 with the first pitch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. for all three games. Come out and enjoy the great spring weather and cheer on your Warrior baseball and softball teams!
