Head Of School Notes - by Julie Ambler Welcome back and happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas holiday. We are delighted to have our students back on campus and look forward to a sensational second-half of the school year. On behalf of our faculty and staff, thank you for your generous donations to Worthy Servants. At our annual Christmas luncheon, held this year at Landry’s, I was able to present our fulltime employees with a check for $561.48. Parttime employees received $280.74. I deeply appreciate your gracious gifts to these faithful and devoted individuals. I am so proud of our seniors who have begun receiving college acceptances to a wide variety of fine colleges and universities including Auburn, Baylor, Belmont, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Elon, Liberty, NYU, Purdue, Savannah College of Art and Design, Southwestern, Texas A & M, TCU, Trinity, Virginia Tech, and the universities of Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The merit-based college scholarship offers are also climbing rapidly. I am grateful for your participation in last fall’s annual parent survey. Your feedback is vital as we continually assess our programs and strive to improve our school. Each member of the Senior Leadership Team (all of whom are returning next year) has studied the survey results and comments. This year, you expressed overwhelming satisfaction with the quality and compassion of our faculty. You reported that your children find the academic curriculum both challenging and engaging and they are developing close, healthy relationships with peers and faculty. You were also pleased with the school’s communication tools and value the strong sense of Christian community on campus. Some of you asked excellent questions and raised specific concerns, which we will address as appropriate. Based on the survey, we are moving in the right direction, and I am confident that we
will continue to do so with teamwork and the wisdom of our board, our administrators, our faculty and you, our parents. Thank you for your input and your partnership. Enrollment contracts for the 2016-2017 school year are now in the mail, and we sincerely desire to serve your family again next year. In order to reserve your spot and take advantage of lower tuition rates, please return your contracts by 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 11. On Friday, February 12, we will begin looking at open spots for right-fit candidates to join us, offering contracts to some of them, and establishing wait pools for grades that reach capacity. (The Enrollment Office is already swamped with applications and inquiries for next year.) Any current student contracts that have not been returned by our deadline will be added to the wait pool and re-considered as space permits. May God bless your family abundantly during 2016 for your commitment to Him and your gift of a Christ-centered college-preparatory education to your children. We know that you make a significant financial investment to bring your children to Woodlands Christian. We are humbled by your commitment, and we thank you for the privilege of serving your family here. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.
