A Note From Dr. Bruce Hunter
Sometimes God’s plan for us takes unexpected paths. Such is the case for my wife, Jan, and I. We have seen God at work removing every barrier to the purchase of the home of our dreams close to our daughter and three grandchildren in Richmond, Virginia. We are following His leading and will be moving in June. Change often includes both joy and sorrow. The hardest part of this process for me is having to leave the students, parents, teachers and administrators I have come to know and love. In my 30 plus years in Christian education, Woodlands Christian has been, by far, the best school of which I have been a part. I know many of you realize this, but you have a treasure in Julie Ambler and Steve Zeal. It has been an honor to serve alongside them. I will watch from a distance and with great fondness as the Lord continues to richly bless Woodlands Christian. In His service,

Upper School News Rotary Young Leadership Awards Shelby Newcomb and Megan Powers, members of the Class of 2016, were awarded the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) at a recent luncheon. RYLA is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to • Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders • Encourage leadership of youth by youth • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities.
Sixth Grade Supports Our Troops
Sixth grade students put the recent three day weekend to good use by shopping for, packing and shipping 33 care packages to our service men and women. The packages were sent to sailors serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The class has a personal connection to the Vinson as Tyler Van Horn’s cousin is currently serving aboard the ship.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Girls’ Swim Team Breaks State Records At Meet Six Warrior swimmers qualified for the state meet this year and ended the season with great successes. As a team, the girls finished as state runner-up. This is an amazing accomplishment considering only four girls raced. We have great hope for next year as there are no graduating seniors on the team. A huge congratulations goes out to Katie Albertson, Sara Beth Bryant, Hannah Bub and Hailey Hanigan for breaking the state records in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay! Team points were also earned by Katie Albertson who finished 8th in the 50 freestyle and 9th in the 100 freestyle. Sara Beth Bryant earned a second place silver medal in the 200 IM and a gold in the 500 freestyle, swimming personal best times in both events. Her 500 freestyle time was also a new school
record. Hannah Bub finished first and received a gold medal in the 200 freestyle and also set a new score record. In the 100 breaststroke, Bub brought home the silver medal. Hailey Hanigan rounded out the team points by placing 4th in the 100 backstroke and 7th in the 100 butterfly. Jake Copeland and Jake Pollitt gave excellent effort in their events as well! Jake Copeland placed 11th and 12th in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Jake Pollitt finished his season in a strong way with a 4th place finish and personal best time in the 50 freestyle and a 7th place finish in the 100 freestyle. Warrior Track Season Off And Running The Warrior varsity track team participated in its first outdoor track meet of the season this past Saturday at Rosehill Christian School. The boys’ team won the meet handily, and the girls’ team finished in second place. There were a number of highlights — - Darcy Sanford - new school record in the discus - Collin Bonner - new school record in the shot put - Calvin Thedinger - third fastest 200m in school history - Andrew Parker - third fastest 400m in school history - Morgan Young - second farthest in long jump in school history - Riley Farra - third farthest in Triple Jump in school history - Numerous personal best marks established Overall we earned 21 gold medals, 12 silver and 6 bronze! Way to go Warriors! Our next meet is this Saturday, Feb 21 at Fort Bend Christian where we will go up against larger and more competitive schools.
