Egg Drop!
Fourth grade students recently conducted their annual egg drop experiments. Students constructed vehicles in which to house a raw egg in order to drop them a great height. The object of the experiment is to ensure that the egg does not crack when it hits the ground. Putting their imaginations to work, students used balloons, boxes, even drinking straws and parachutes to build housings to protect their eggs on their journey from the top of Warrior Stadium to the concrete below.
Let It Snow! It would seem that the North Pole has come to Woodlands Christian as it has been snowing these last few weeks in the Art room. 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students have discovered the winter beauty of symmetry in the making of countless beautiful paper snowflakes. High School Christmas Presentation High school students had the opportunity to showcase their dramatic and musical talents in their Christmas presentation on Friday, December 11. Sophomore student, Meagan Allen opened the evening by performing a selection of her original compositions as well as modern arrangements of Christmas music classics. Following a brief intermission, the cast of Under a Starry Sky took to the stage. The play tells the story of Melody and Travis, a young married couple who receive some unfortunate news at Christmastime. The news causes the couple to shift their focus from the circumstances of life and to discover how God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Bravo to director, Mrs. Susie King, the cast, crew and all of those who made Under a Starry Sky such an outstanding success!

Students Earn Top Honors In Essay Contest High school students in Mrs. Heidi Saenz’ English classes were given the opportunity to submit essays for a contest sponsored by Montgomery County Right To Life (MCRTL). Congratulations to Hailey Watterson for earning first place honors and a $300 award; to Matthew Dew who earned second place honors and a $250 award; and to Patrick O’Connor who received honorable mention. Additionally, MCRTL provided a Chick-fil-A lunch for the entire class. The purpose of the essay contest is to further a pro-life worldview in our community and to provide participants with an opportunity to examine their beliefs regarding the sanctity of life and to thoughtfully communicate those beliefs to others. Well done, Warrior writers!

…there are many things our society can do to build a pro-life generation. It just takes one person to step up and become determined to accomplish this task. In order to build this loving and welcoming generation, one could begin volunteering and working in the movement, but the most important thing is to constantly share with others the facts, causes, and effects that abortion has on families and on our society. Through this, let us work together on accomplishing this goal of ours in becoming a complete pro-life generation. Middle And High School Musicians Chosen For Region Band Middle and high school musicians recently participated in a competition sponsored by the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). This competition is comprised of students from public and private schools in Montgomery and Harris counties. Congratulations to middle school musicians Cooper Bennett (7th grade, trombone), Josh Mueck (7th grade, trumpet), and Ben Shearer (7th grade, trombone) for being chosen for the ATSSB Region Band. (See photo below right.) Congratulations to high school musicians Hestin Yaeger (9th grade, french horn) and Jackson Mulville (10th grade, trombone) who were also chosen for the ATSSB Region Band. Building Bridges Students in Mrs. Pam Masau’s AP physics class were tasked with constructing bridges with the requirements as follows: use 150 wooden popsicle sticks or fewer, use only glue to bind the sticks together, span a 50cm river, and be no longer than 64cm. After constructing the bridges, students then analyzed truss frameworks in hypothetical bridges as well as their own. They also determined the distribution of forces and calculated cost efficiency and strength to weight ratios (a direct measure of bridge strength and quality of design). Some of the bridges were able to hold almost 80 pounds, and some were stressed to the point of failure. Information & photos submitted by Pam Masau.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Basketball Update Warrior basketball fans had a lot to cheer about last Thursday as the boys varsity basketball team put on a show with an exciting 64-59 come-from-behind victory over St. Pius X. The team then posted another victory with a 48-46 win over Bay Area Christian on Saturday, December 12. Another home game is on tap for Friday, December 18 as the Warriors welcome Baytown Christian. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. In the early game, the junior varsity team will host Lake Houston Homeschool at 4:30 p.m. The girls’ varsity team also had fans cheering last week with their 52-36 victory over the Andrew Rodman School. On Friday, December 18 the Lady Warriors host Baytown Christian at 6:00 p.m. Ring in the New Year with some basketball! The boys’ varsity team will host the Woodlands Christian Tournament January 1-2, 2016. The girls’ varsity team will make the short trip to The John Cooper School for a game on January 5, 2016.
