Middle School Christmas Performance Middle school choir and theatre students let their Christmas spirit shine in outstanding performances on Wednesday evening, December 9. Under the direction of Mrs. Lisa Woods, the middle school choir set the tone for the evening with a delightful selection of musical numbers including Go Tell It On The Mountain. The choir performance was followed by Christmas Theatre Presented By Oscar Lewis, an original production written and directed by Mr. Palvin Williams, middle school theatre and speech teacher, which featured performances by middle school theatre arts students. The play follows Oscar Lewis, a teenage boy who dreams of hosting his own anthology series of famous theatrical productions. Through the wonders of YouTube he is able to realize his dream but in the process learns that there are far more important things to do at Christmas than record his show. Bravo and thanks to all for making this such a memorable evening!

Worthy Servants 2015
The Worthy Servants program is a tradition begun several years ago by Woodlands Christian parents to show love and appreciation to the faculty and staff who touch our children’s lives each day and to offer an alternative to buying individual teacher gifts. If you would like to participate this year, you may donate online by clicking here and designate your gift - Worthy Servants. You may also bring or send your donation to our Business Office no later than Wednesday, December 16. All gifts collected will be equally divided among our faculty and staff. These gifts, along with a card, will be presented at our annual faculty and staff Christmas luncheon on December 18. Please note: Unless otherwise requested, each donor’s name will be included on the card. As always, Christmas presents or contributions are never required. However, if you are planning to give gifts, please prayerfully consider showing your appreciation to our outstanding faculty and staff in this way.

Lower School News
Students Explore Science Students in Mr. Roach’s science labs have been busy exploring science in various ways. Third grade students measured the effect of temperatures on the melting time of ice. The students collected and recorded data on the time and area of liquid collected. (See photos first row below.) In first grade, students used different types of pasta to illustrate the four stages of the metamorphosis of the butterfly. (See photos second row below.) Students in kindergarten combined astronomy and art by creating murals of objects in the night sky on black paper. (See photos third row below.) Information & photos submitted by Robert Roach.

Interact Club Serves Teacher’s Family Members of The Woodlands Christian Academy’s Interact Club recently came together to serve a teacher in need. Several weeks ago, high school English teacher Crystal Chapman’s husband, Chris, underwent emergency back surgery. After the surgery, Mr. Chapman was unable to perform many everyday tasks. According to Mrs. Chapman, “I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the faculty and students. Faculty and staff have provided my family with meals and have prayed for Chris’ healing. My students have prayed for him at home, at school, and at church. Tom Earle and 15 students from the Interact Club descended upon my home to help me decorate for Christmas; their generosity truly showed the love of Christ and the Spirit of Christmas.” Giving is a way of life at Woodlands Christian! Students Compete In Poetry Out Loud In 2005, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation joined together to create Poetry Out Loud, a program that encourages the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through exploration, memorization, and recitation. Poetry Out Loud begins in the classroom as students select poems to recite before their classmates. After the classroom contest, the winners advance to a schoolwide competition. The winner of the school-wide competition then advances to the state finals. Five Woodlands Christian high school students competed on Wednesday, December 9 to determine who would advance to the Poetry Out Loud state finals. Congratulations to John Harkins who will represent Woodlands Christian at the state finals to be held in Austin, Texas on February 27. A big thank you to Mr. Steve Zeal, Mrs. Amy Rowe and Ms. Brenda Phillips for volunteering their time to serve as judges for our competition. Information provided by Crystal Chapman.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Basketball Update After a solid showing at the Houston Christian Tournament on December 3-5, the Warrior boys varsity basketball team suffered a 40-52 loss on the road against Northland Christian on Tuesday, December 8. The Warriors look to turn things around when they return home to face St. Pius X on Thursday, December 10. Scheduled tip-off times are as follows: junior varsity at 6:00 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. The girls’ varsity team was also on the road against Northland Christian on December 8, and they too came up short posting a 35-45 loss. The ladies look to get back on track when they host The Roadrunners from the Andrew Rodman School on Thursday, December 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Come out and support your Warrior basketball teams!
