The Warrior Derby is Saturday night at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott! Thanks to the hard work of an amazing auction committee and enthusiastic response from our families, the event has sold out! All proceeds from this year's auction and gala will help us complete construction on a 400-meter eight lane track and, hopefully, add synthetic turf and stadium seating for 1,500 spectators. In other exciting news, we are adding two key positions for next year. Coach Tom Earle (for whom our new track will be named) is retiring from Aon Hewitt to become a full-time employee at Woodlands Christian. In addition to coaching track and cross-country, Coach Earle will be coordinating our high school outreach/ mission projects and our new honors program. Coach Kori Parker (whom some of you may remember from 2005) will rejoin Woodlands Christian as our Assistant Athletic Director for Girls’ Sports. Along with her passion for girls’ sports, Coach Parker brings many years of coaching and administrative experience. Please join me in welcoming these two wonderful additions to our staff.

Lower School News
Students Explore How The Human Body Works In conjunction with their unit of study on the skeletal system, heart and blood, first grade students visited The Health Museum in Houston. Of the interactive exhibits in the Amazing Body Pavilion, the students’ favorite was the decibel booth where the students were able to enter a soundproof booth and scream as loud as they could. Outside of the booth was a decibel reader that their partners used to see and record the decibel levels which reached as high as 109! The You Exhibit offered them an opportunity to explore the Life-Span-O-Meter, the Mirror of Heredity, Who are You?, and the Body Scanner. They also had the opportunity to listen to their own heartbeats with real stethoscopes. (See photos at left.) Closer to home, students in Mr. Roach’s science lab are learning about the inner workings of the body as well as hereditary traits. Instead of looking at diagrams of the digestive system, students created a digestive tract using pantyhose, sandwich bags, paper cups, graham crackers and bananas. (See photo bottom left.) Using genetically altered fluorescent blue and gold Glofish students will conduct an investigation into hereditary traits. Will the offspring of the blue and gold Glofish be different colors, one color or multi-colored? (See photo bottom right.)

Upper School News  
Middle School Students Participate In Outreach Projects Middle school students are learning to give back to their community through service projects. The National Junior Honor Society recently sponsored a clothing drive to support the StoneBridge Church Clothing Pantry. Students collected business attire to help those in need as they seek employment. They then helped sort and organize the garments at the clothing pantry. (See photos at right.) Interfaith’s Veggie Village recently received assistance in the form of good old fashioned manual labor from a group of middle school students. They planted, weeded, and harvested ripe fruit and vegetables from the garden. All of the crops grown at Veggie Village are used to provide fresh produce to those in need in our area.

Warrior Golf Teams Qualifies For State Tournament
The varsity golf team competed in the regional round of the TAPPS 3A golf tournament held on Monday, April 20 at April Sound. The girls’ team earned third place qualifying them for the state tournament. On the boys’ side, Travis Ray qualified for the individual competition. The state golf tournament will be held April 27-28 at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen, Texas.

Warrior Baseball Update
The Warrior varsity baseball team’s regular season rolls on. In addition to regularly scheduled games, the team will also play several rain out make-up games. The Warriors faced Logos Prep on Tuesday, April 21 and came away with a 5-15 loss. The team split their make-up doubleheader against Beaumont Legacy on Wednesday, April 22 with a 6-5 win followed by a 9-15 loss. Their record now stands at 5-4 in district and 7-12 overall. The Warriors hit the road for games against Faith West on Thursday, April 23, and against O’Connell College Prep on Monday, April 27. They will close out the regular season with a home game on Tuesday, April 28 with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The district playoff picture is still coming into focus so come out on April 28 and support your Warrior baseball team!

Warrior Track Teams Win Meet The Warrior varsity track team had an outstanding performance at the Allen Academy Relays. There were 32 schools, including two 5A schools from San Antonio. Both the boys’ and girls’ team won the meet! Here are the highlights:

Darcy Sanford set a new high jump record of 5’2” and won a gold medal. Avery Tudor set a new shot put record of 33’8” and won a gold medal. Avery Tudor set a new school record in the discus of 103’6” and won a gold medal. Morgan Young won a silver medal in the pole vault and was just shy of her best vault. Collin Bonner nearly matched his best shot put and won a bronze medal. Bradley Fisher matched his personal best high jump of 6’ and won a silver medal. Morgan Young and Raul Giorgi won bronze medals in the 100m. Alyssa Regier won a gold medal in the 800m and set a new personal best time. Hannah Shearer won a silver medal in the 3200m and a bronze medal in the 1600m. Josh Oglesby won a silver medal in the 3200m and set a personal record time. Darcy Sanford won a gold medal in the 100m hurdles and a bronze medal in the 300m hurdles. Grayson Danner won gold medals in the 100m hurdles (school record) and the 300m hurdles. The boys’ 4x100 relay team of Elijah Bajoyo, Matt Michel, Matt Muschenheim, and Calvin Thedinger won a silver medal. The girls’ 4x200 relay team of Alex Harkins, Marielle Olivier, Riley Farra, and Morgan Young won a bronze medal.

The boys’ 4x400 relay team of Ryan Doner, Andrew Parker, Grayson Danner, and Kyle Clark won a silver medal and also set a new school record.
