Head of School Notes
The Woodlands Christian annual auction and gala, Safari, will be held on Saturday, April 23 at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. It promises to be a memorable night of fun, fellowship and fundraising. Thank you to the many families who are sponsoring this event, including our event sponsor, Richie’s Pharmacy. I am also grateful to Robin and Mark Bennett who are chairing this year’s Gala. Historically, we have always included a fund-a-need at our auction. This year, we will apply 100% of our net auction proceeds toward need-based financial aid. We will allocate a portion of the proceeds raised at our auction to financial assistance for the next two years and a portion to a permanent endowment for financial aid in the future. Woodlands Christian has always reserved a small pool of funds for families with demonstrated financial need. Applicants must apply to FACTS, a third-party financial aid assessment service, and submit tax returns, W-2s and other documentation to confirm the need and the amount of aid. Woodlands Christian seeks to assist students who would be a blessing to our school community – spiritually, academically, physically and socially. The recipients are confidential but represent members of our faculty/staff, families in full-time ministry, existing families with short-term needs,
and other outstanding students who could not otherwise afford to attend Woodlands Christian. In recent years, over 50% of our recipients have been children of faculty and 15% have been children with parents in full-time ministry. Sadly, our funds are very limited, and we are often unable to assist many of the deserving students who apply for aid. We believe that by designating these auction proceeds to financial aid we will increase our ability to impact Christ’s kingdom for eternity by blessing existing, as well as future students. New this year is our exclusive online auction which features preferred seating for special events, reserved parking spaces, and unique Warrior and faculty experiences. These highly sought after items will not be available the night of the Safari gala. Bidding for them will only be possible during our online auction beginning on Wednesday, April 6th at 8 a.m., and closing on Wednesday, April 20th, at midnight. Click here to get started! Lower School News
Third Grade Students Visit Health Museum Third grade students traveled beyond the walls last week to visit the Houston Health Museum. Â They experienced the microscopic world of human skin, solved logic puzzles, learned about healthy choices for nutrition/fitness, and enjoyed a scavenger hunt through the major systems and parts of our amazing bodies. Band Students Compete At TAPPS Event Members of The Woodlands Christian Academy high school band competed in the TAPPS Solo and Ensemble band competition earning second place in total points among TAPPS 3A schools. Overall our musicians placed fourth, scoring higher than many of the 4A and 5A schools competing in the event. Fourteen band members earned a I-Superior, the highest rating awarded. Students Receive Honors In Video & Art Competitions As part of their study on the principles of argumentation, students in Mrs. Heidi Saenz’ English class entered the Montgomery County Right To Life video competition. ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Baseball Continues District Play The Warriors continued district play with two games this past week. On March 26, the team posted a 8-9 loss to Faith West but rebounded with a 16-0 win over Beaumont Legacy Christian on March 29. The Warrior’s record is now 2-2 in district play and 12-5 overall. A three game home-stand awaits the Warriors as they host Logos Prep on Friday, April 1; St. Thomas Episcopal on Tuesday, April 5 and Snook High School on Friday, April 8. Warrior Softball Update After their recent success in district play, the Warrior varsity softball team suffered a 4-10 defeat against Beaumont Legacy Christian on March 29. The team will have a few days to re-group before facing Baytown Christian in an home contest on Friday, April 8. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Go Warrior softball!

Baseball/Softball Complex The Booster Club will sponsor a bar-b-que dinner for all Woodlands Christian families to enjoy on Friday, April 8. Warrior Weights Strength & Conditioning Camp May 31 - July 22 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (camp will not be held July 4-8)
Stay active this summer with Warrior Weights! The Warrior Weights Strength & Conditioning Camp is designed for boys and girls entering 6th grade - high school. There will be separate sessions each day tailored for boys and girls*. Students are welcome to invite friends who do not attend Woodlands Christian.
