The Chamber ended the year with a holiday themed Breakfast Connections. Members were asked to incorporate the best gift they had ever given into their commercials and encouraged to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters. Sandra Lea with All Acounts Consulting, LLC received the Best Female Ugly Christmas Sweater and Jeremiah Kamerer, Venturi Engineers LLC received the Best Male Ugly Christmas Sweater. Both received gift cards. The December Spotlight Sponsor for Breakfast Connections was David Deveau, Woodforest Wealth Strategies. David Deveau is a financial advisor with extensive personal experience about the importance of core estate planning documents. The middle child of seven, David was working as a college dance professor when his father passed away without any updated estate documents. After spending four long years as the
administrator of his father’s estate, David switched careers to help others avoid the stress and turmoil that he and his family endured. David believes that “Start here, start now” is the best advice for all. While helping his clients plan for the priorities in their life, David provides options to help preserve, grow and distribute wealth. He focuses on what matters most to clients and, in doing so, explores and collaborates with them about the personalized strategies that best help fulfill their dreams. In addition to building client relationships, David is
interested in building more community. He works with a wide range of local organizations to support and provide opportunity for many in our area.

In December, members of the C.A.R.E.S. Committee joined forces with the Montgomery County Food Bank to help with their Stock the Sleigh event.
Stock the Sleigh was a communitywide event that brought residents, businesses and civic organizations together to help fight hunger in our community.
Several groups set-up donation bins collecting food or sold ornaments to collect monetary donations. The community was invited to come together for a celebratory drop-off event held at the Montgomery County Food Bank offices.
Volunteers like the C.A.R.E.S. Committee came together to help the Food Bank set-up for an evening of celebration complete with entertainment provided by local school choirs, sweet treats and pictures with Santa.
If you want to learn more about how you can assist the Montgomery County Food Bank with their efforts, please visit them on the web at mcfoodbank.org.
The Chamber’s C.A.R.E.S. Committee is open to all Chamber members that have a heart for serving others. The team meets the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m.

At EDUCATION FOR TOMORROW ALLIANCE, “Invest today. Empower tomorrow.” is more than a tagline. It is at the core of how EfTA invites the community to create learning opportunities for students. EfTA partners with companies throughout the year, but summer internships depend on a time investment by businesses to shape the future workforce through the Student Internship Program. The Student Internship Program (SIP) matches companies with rising 12th grade students for short-term internships. EfTA is currently signing up partners willing to host one or more students for two consecutive weeks during Summer 2023. Students learn about the daily experiences of one profession that interests them and gain understanding about the industry and skills required.
EDUCATION FOR TOMORROW ALLIANCE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success. With innovative programs focused on career, leadership, and STEM preparation, EfTA is the portal through which business leaders can access and strengthen local education.
“I really enjoyed my experience at the hospital, as well as the individual feedback from each person I was shadowing. I learned more than I can put into words at the hospital, from patient care to different careers within healthcare. While I enjoyed every moment during my internship, my favorite rotation was in the NICU where I got to watch two C-Sections. It was truly magical!” shared Julieta, a 2022 Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center Intern.
Internships in a wide range of fields are needed, including business, engineering, medicine, and more, with the greatest demand for STEM internships. The program kicks off in June. To learn more about the requirements or to sign up to host an intern, visit the SIP Mentor Landing Page at efta-us.org.
