CONNECTIONS WITH AREA BUSINESS LEADERS

Ubiquity is Spotlight Sponsor for June | Breakfast Connections

The theme for June’s Breakfast Connections had members sharing their favorite summer vacation location or activity. It was exciting to hear about the plans our members had to enjoy a little time off with their families from some local staycations to exotic ports of call from around the world. The common theme was family.

June’s Spotlight Sponsor was Francisco Ortigosa, CEO of Ubiquity. Mr. Ortigosa is at the forefront of the technology revolution. Ubiquity is not simply a technology company; it is a strategic partner committed to navigating the future of business. Ubiquity has the firm conviction that efficiency, profitability and innovation are not mere goals, but the standard of tomorrow.

The Business Advocacy Council held its annual legislative priorities meeting this month. BAC members came together to discuss the Chamber’s legislative priorities for 2024-2025. There were dynamic discussions regarding local, state, and federal issues and legislation and the impact they have on our community. The legislative priorities proposed in the council meeting will be submitted to the board for approval. Once the priorities are confirmed, the Chamber will utilize these as a guideline for advocacy on behalf of our members throughout the upcoming fiscal year. We are grateful to Angela Storseth-Cooper, Heather Ramsey, and Shiva Baradaran for leading this initiative.

C.A.R.E.S.

Committee

| Serves Local Nonprofits in June

Our C.A.R.E.S. Committee was quite busy during the month of June helping both Love Heals Youth and Community Assistance Center.

Volunteers spent a morning at the Love Heals Youth storage facility sorting through donations in their Clothes Closet and learning more about the impact the organization has on our youth.

Through LOVE, we HEAL! Love Heals Youth’s counseling program helps foster care youth rewrite and repurpose their trials and tribulations so they can find acceptance for the present and find freedom from the past. In time, LOVE will HEAL all wounds. This organization offers individual, group and family counseling. To learn more please visit their website at lovehealsyouth.com.

In the wake of recent storms, organizations like the Community Assistance Center provide resources to help local residents in the recovery efforts and found their pantry running low of essential food staples and cleaning supplies, so the C.A.R.E.S.

Committee started a donation drive to help provide the necessary items to help our neighbors in need.

Community Assistance Center provides resources to meet basic needs and improve quality of life for our neighbors in Montgomery County. They provide practical solutions promoting selfsufficiency for rent/mortgage assistance, utilities assistance, shelter vouchers, prescription services, back to school assistance, transportation, food, clothing, education, and disaster recovery. To learn more about the services produced by CAC, visit cac-mctx.org.

If you are looking for an outlet to give back, please consider joining the C.A.R.E.S. Committee. C.A.R.E.S. meets the first Wednesday of the month and provides assistance to our local nonprofits. Contact Cyndi Alvarado, Vice President of Membership at cyndi.alvarado@ woodlandschamber.org to learn more about the C.A.R.E.S. All Chamber members are welcome to join our committee.

During the 2024-25 school year, Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) is celebrating its 35th year of creating opportunities for Montgomery County students. EfTA was started in 1989 by a group of local scientists and researchers who partnered with the Chamber with the goal of preparing students for the workforce. The founders saw the value in establishing business-education partnerships. The first SCI://TECH Science Fair gave professionals a concrete way to support schools and STEM education. SCI://TECH was followed by job shadowing and internships where students had the chance to learn from time spent in the workplace. EfTA’s programs have evolved through the decades, but the mission of cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success remains. EfTA staff matched 174 rising 12th graders with career mentors for hand-on learning opportunities. Each student will spend two weeks full-time on-site to gain career insights and the chance to connect with professionals in one of a wide range of career fields.

EfTA President Monica Bomkamp Enia shared, “At its core, Education for Tomorrow is rooted in community. Every career panel, internship, and chance for students to engage is due to a professional saying, ‘Yes!’ to sharing insights with students. EfTA creates the pathways, but the opportunity for students to learn from adults reflects the generosity of this community.”

EfTA will offer programming, including teacher grants, throughout the school year to celebrate its 35 anniversary.

Education for Tomorrow Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success. With innovative programs focused on science, technology and career preparation, EfTA is the portal through which business leaders can access and strengthen local education. efta-us.org

Embracing Seasonal Marketing:Fall

Fall is a season of change. For businesses, this transitional period is ripe with opportunities to boost marketing efforts and drive growth. Aligning your marketing with the season, creates a sense of urgency and excitement among your customers. Here are some fresh strategies to help you make the most of the fall season in 2024.

Leverage Fall-Themed Content

In Texas, Fall brings dreams of cooler weather and less humidity. This is the ideal time for businesses to develop seasonal campaigns and offers that satisfy consumers yearn for fall. Think about offering limited-time discounts on seasonal items or bundling products that cater to fall needs. Launching fall-themed bundles and limited-time discounts or items creates a sense of urgency by emphasizing the time-sensitive nature of the promotions.

Seasonal Promotions and Offers

Adopt a fall color palette in your marketing materials to evoke the warm and cozy feelings associated with the season. Use social media platforms to share fall-themed visuals, stories, and promotions. Utilize fall-inspired hashtags and engage your audience with posts about seasonal activities, recipes, and DIY projects. This approach not only makes your content more relatable but also increases its shareability.

Host and Sponsor Local Events

The fall season is bustling with community events, from harvest festivals to Halloween parties. Engage with guests by hosting giveaways or auction items. Consider sponsoring larger community-held events to build your brand name and highlight your involvement in the community. Participating in or sponsoring these events can significantly boost your brand’s visibility. Consider hosting your own fall-themed events, such as a pumpkin carving contest or a Trunk or Treat to attract local customers.
