Innovation Council Recap: Engaging with Texas’ Innovation Ecosystem

This month, members of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Innovation Council participated in key events across the region, strengthening connections and gathering insights to support innovation back home.

Chamber Board and Innovation Council members kicked off the month by joining a fireside chat with Lori Beer, Global CIO of JPMorgan Chase, at Ion Houston. The visit included a guided tour led by Wade Pinder, a key figure in the Greater Houston innovation landscape, and Coco Seney, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship. The group also connected with Grace Rodriguez, CEO of Impact Hub Houston, an organization working to position the Greater Houston area as a global model for solving pressing societal challenges.

At the Plug and Play Innovation Triangle Aerospace & Defense Expo, attendees heard an inspiring keynote from Jim Cantrell, CEO of Phantom Space and a founding team member of SpaceX. The expo featured cutting-edge startup pitches in aerospace and defense technology and offered valuable networking opportunities with leaders from organizations such as the Plug and Play Tech Center and Texas A&M University Innovation.

Innovation Council representatives finished out the month by attending the Texas Venture Fest, a gathering of founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders. With compelling panel discussions and thought-provoking conversations, the event highlighted the strength and momentum of the region’s innovation ecosystem.

Through participation in these events, the Chamber continues to build strategic relationships and bring forward-thinking ideas back to The Woodlands in support of local entrepreneurs and a thriving innovation economy.

BAC Recap: Township Candidate Forum

This month, in partnership with Community Impact Newspaper and Woodlands Online, the Chamber’s Business Advocacy Council hosted a Candidate Forum for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors Position 6. Candidates Adam Lamb, Allan Bounds, Philip Ikharebhore, and Maria Holmes participated in a respectful and insightful conversation, sharing their priorities and vision for the future of our community.

Moderators Sean Thompson (Woodlands Online) and Nicole Preston (Community Impact) guided the discussion, posing thoughtful questions on key topics impacting residents and businesses.

In addition to the forum, Chamber President & CEO Aaron Cox, sat down with incumbent Position 7 candidate Cindy Heiser—running unopposed—for a one-on-one conversation about her ongoing work and goals as she seeks reelection.

Participating in local elections is one of the most impactful ways residents can shape the future of The Woodlands. These leadership decisions directly influence community and business priorities, quality of life, and long-term planning.
