The 37th annual Economic Outlook Conference lived up to its reputation as the premier business event in The Woodlands area. EOC 2023 was a historic success, boasting a record 800 attendees and the most extensive speaker line up the conference has ever had.

Attendees gained insights from global, national and local speakers on the economy, business trends and ways to prepare for the growth to come.

Headlining the event was highly respected businessman Bill Ackman. Ackman currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Howard Hughes Corporation and as the CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, LLC.

The Houston Business Journal’s Bob Charlet led a discussion and Q&A with Ackman on a wide variety of topics from sustainable development in The Woodlands to national topics like the global economy, inflation and his thoughts on workplace culture.

Joel Kotkin, author and internationally recognized authority on global economic and social trends, discussed how what people are doing and where and why they do it affects the global economy.

Congressman Dan Crenshaw (TX-2) gave a national policy update. Gil Staley, CEO of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, presented an overview of the EDP’s annual workforce survey of major employers, giving local leaders key economic indicators that affect the local business climate.

The closing session of the conference featured a panel of CEO’s discussing the demographics and business environment that caused them and so many others to relocate their companies to the Woodlands.

J.J. Hollie, CEO of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, said that what sets EOC apart from other events is that business leaders get substantive economic updates and valuable, applicable information that can inform their business activities.

“I think the theme from this year’s Economic Outlook Conference is, if you weren’t here, you really missed out,” said Hollie. “There was so much great information about how global scenarios affect the economy and business communities at every level.’

A record number of sponsors – more than 65 – signed up to support the event and make it the most successful yet, chief among them was Presenting Sponsor Kean Miller, LLP.

Breakfast Connections | ARCpoint Labs of The Woodlands

Love was in the air at the February Breakfast Connections. The theme for the event was What do you love about your business? Members were asked to incorporate the theme into their commercials for a chance to be crowned the Creative Commercial Winner. Kathleen Buckland with ARCpoint Labs of The Woodlands was the Spotlight Sponsor for the breakfast.

Kathleen Buckland opened the first ARCpoint Labs franchise in The Woodlands because she understands the challenges of drug/alcohol testing for employers. Getting results quickly for pre-employment testing to be able to hire quickly is imperative. Getting CDL drivers in and out quickly when random testing or going in for their DOT physical is critical to keeping them on the road and serving customers. She wanted to offer a professional service that provides accurate, reliable, and confidential testing where Human Resource and Safety professionals can confidently send their employees to be tested promptly, be treated professionally, and get results quickly.

ARCpoint Labs of The Woodlands focuses on serving the B2B community with preemployment and random drug/alcohol testing and program management. Trained, experienced, and certified as Third-Party Administrators for DOT drug/alcohol testing, DOT Physicals and random program management as well as FMSCA Clearing House management.

ARCpoint Labs of The Woodlands wants to help you take control of your health. You can come into the lab for testing without visiting your doctor or getting a doctor’s order for the

testing. They focus on testing before clients become ill. Often health and wellness tests are not covered by insurance companies and ARCpoint is able offer affordable testing with quick turnaround times on results. Phlebotomists are certified and trained and focus on getting your blood draw the first time, without multiple painful sticks. In fact, ARCpoint Labs offers hundreds of tests with a simple blood draw; everything from a simple blood type test to women and men health/ hormone panels to fatigue and food allergy/sensitivity testing. They even offer vitamin injections.

In addition, ARCpoint Labs serves the legal/judicial community offering drug/alcohol testing and DNA testing for family law/court. Contact ARCpoint Labs of the Woodlands at 936.283.4099 or visit arcpointlabs. com/the-woodlands.

TFamily Promise of Montgomery County during the month of February for a Share the Love donation drive to stock the Guest Center with essential items.

Members were asked to donate items for the kitchen pantry, as well as essential personal hygiene items including laundry soap to wash their clothes and gift cards to help families purchase refrigerated items. The donation drive was such a success, as members showed up with car loads of items to donate.

Corinne Coulter with Education for Tomorrow Alliance serves as the Team Lead for C.A.R.E.S. and stated “I feel this was an easy request as members could pick up additional items when they made their normal grocery runs. From food to personal hygiene products and grocery store gift cards, Chamber members were truly kind in helping make this one of the most successful donation drives.”

Family Promise of Montgomery County provides shelter, meals, transportation and compassionate assistance for homeless families with children. Families are able to stay in the Guest Center as part of their 90-day program. The Guest Center can serve up to six families at any given time.
