From The Director
Welcome to the wonderful undersea world of Bikini Bottom where the citizens face the impending doom of losing their homes to the ultimate destruction from the eruption of Mount Humongous. Sounds horrible, right? But wait! When all hope seems lost an unexpected hero rises up.
Now some of you might have come to see The SpongeBob Musical because you are big fan of the cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants. And some of you might be here because your kids love the cartoon series. Some of you might not even know who SpongeBob is or why he wears square pants, but you are here to support your friends on stage or to support the Woodland Opera House. No matter your reason for coming out to see this show there is one thing I do know. You will smile and I think even laugh. You will leave feeling uplifted.
I can’t wait for you to see everything this cast has in store for you! This cast, this crew, the designers, every single person who had a hand in putting together what you see and hear on stage (and there are A LOT so read that program) worked so incredibly hard to bring you all the joy and wonder you will experience. Thank them if you see them. I try to every day. Now sit back and enjoy this charming story of a sea sponge named SpongeBob and his friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks who show us the power of optimism, friendship, and tenacity as they fight to save Bikini Bottom. Enjoy the show!
