CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMME Spring Term 1 : 2024

Welcome to our Co-Curricular brochure for the first half of the Spring Term. This brochure will give you details about the different co-curricular clubs that will be on offer, starting from the first day back after the Christmas holiday.

Our Co-Curricular programme offers our pupils not only safe and quality wrap-around care, but the opportunity to develop skills and learn new things outside of their lessons.

This year we are making a change in the way we view our clubs, with each one focusing on one of our Grovian Values.

Our clubs are provided by school staff and by external providers (*please remember that external providers offer their clubs at an additional charge).

Additionally, this year, we have launched a Grovian Passport to help celebrate the huge range of clubs that our pupils get involved in.

When pupils go to their club, they can take their passport with them for it to be ‘signed’, recognising their work towards that Grovian Value. When they have completed their passport, they will receive special recognition for their hard work.

Hama Beads

ER Come along to today’s Enterprising & Resourceful focus club. With Hama Beads, you can have colourful and creative fun whilst challenging your fine motor skills using beads and patterns.

Dance*

Today's Committed & Resilient club focus is Dance. This is one of our external clubs offered by Nancy Lucas. Pupils will engage in dance activities and develop their skills. *charge of £7 per session 5 sessions = £35.00 for this half term.

Dough Disco

ER Come along to today's Enterprising & Resourceful club focus. In Dough Disco club, the children will join in with a fun, engaging activity.

They will learn how to manipulate play dough whilst strengthening the muscles in their hands and developing fine motor control.

Yoga*

Smarty Pants Spanish*

Join us for Wednesday’s Inquisitive & Curious focus club. One of our external clubs, offered by Cath Rose Smarty Pants Spanish, pupils will learn Spanish in a fun and interactive way. *charge of £7 per session 5 sessions = £35.00 for this half term.

Mindfulness

Come along to today's Honourable & Respectful club focus. In mindfulness club, the children will join in with weekly mindfulness activities, including calm breathing exercises, cosmic yoga and mindfulness colouring. This is a calm club that allows children to enjoy quiet time at the end of the day.

Circle Games

KG Come along to today's Kind & Generous club focus. In circle games club, the children will have lots of fun playing a range of drama games altogether, using a wide range of different skills that will build relationships and confidence with one another.

Mini Ninjas*

Come along to today’s Honourable & Respectful club focus. Mini Ninjas is one of our external clubs, offered by Mohammed Shaban.

Pupils will have an introduction to the skills, discipline and focus of a martial art. *charge of £7.50 per session

Word Games

IC Come along to today’s Inquisitive & Curious focus club. In Word Games Club, children will have fun whilst solving puzzles and competing with each other to show off and improve their impressive knowledge of words.

Winter Crafts

Come along to today's Enterprising & Resourceful club focus. Following the popularity of our Christmas Craft club, we are continuing the creativity into the new term!

HR Come along to today’s Honourable & Respectful club focus. At Sign Language club, you will learn the BSL alphabet and use it to communicate with your friends. You will also learn signs for lots of useful words we might use at home and school.

NB: This club gives lots of children a basic start to BSL and isn’t a continuation. If you’ve already done this club in Y1 or Y2, please don’t sign up again.

Find some exciting books, read together and read for pleasure as you find stories that inspire you.

Cross-Country

Come along to today's Kind & Generous club focus. Cross-Country is one of our staple sport clubs to practise your skills and gain experience, preparing for races throughout the year. Cheer each other on and overcome personal targets.

Come along and join today’s Inquisitive & Curious focus club. Comic book creation club offers pupils the opportunity to use their drawing and story telling skills to create colourful and exciting comic books; creating their own characters or superheroes.

KG Come along to today's Kind & Generous club focus. The famous Brontë Knitwits is a place where you can learn a new skill and create some amazing products along the way. Come and learn to knit with Mrs O’Grady!

Orchestra

Today's Committed & Resilient club focus is our re-established school orchestra. This club is for our instrumentalists in school and includes a mixture of pupils from across KS2. If you’re invited to join, this is the ideal place to put your musicianship into practice and show off our school’s talents—what an honour!

Stop-Motion Animation

Come along and join today’s Enterprising & Resourceful focus club. Pupils can demonstrate, apply and develop their photography and computer programming skills. Pupils will design and create stop-motion animations, in the same way that the famous Wallace & Gromit was created.

Cross-Stitch

Today's Committed & Resilient club focus is Cross-Stitch. This club offers pupils the chance to develop their sewing skills further, building on work in textiles, and apply them to a creative design.
