Our little Ashdowners loved their first Outdoor Learning lesson with Miss Callow, our Outdoor Education Co-ordinator from Woodhouse Grove.

Year 2 were very surprised to come into the classroom after morning play to find a dragon had left an egg on the carpet! The classroom was a bit of a mess too! They looked at all the clues and evidence in the classroom and wrote some lovely expanded noun phrases to describe what they saw.

Reception have been carrying out challenges at snack time such as, using a knife and fork to eat, opening packets and peeling their own satsumas.

They were a little tricky to start but everyone did a brilliant job and enjoyed their snack.

As part of their science topic on the uses of everyday materials, Year 2 were given the challenge of finding out which ball was the As part of their new RE topic about special books, bounciest. Year 2 have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes in their maths lessons. They have been naming shapes and counting the number of sides, vertices, edges and faces. Wednesday to explain the significance of Burns’ Night and how it honours the short, but colourful life As part of their topic, ‘People who help us', Nursery had a very exciting visit from the fire service this week. They learnt all about the important role of the emergency services; tried on the firefighters' uniforms; and even used some of their equipment!

This week our Outdoor Adventurers learnt how to safely light a fire using steel and flint, before toasting their marshmallows on the fire!

Merit badges were distributed to our children gaining 7 or more ’excellent’ effort grades in last term’s reports. These children are in the elite ‘full house’ club, meaning they have been awarded purple effort grades in every subject across the curriculum.

We hope everyone is looking forward to ABA’s upcoming 90th Birthday Ball In order to make our fundraising efforts go as far as possible, we are looking to obtain sponsorship towards some of our costs.
