Year 4 Sound in Science
Year 4 have been learning all about sound in science and made quite a racket in the science room with the percussion instruments! They went on to understand pitch, by make their own glass xylophone. The children set up an investigation to find out whether different amounts of water in the bottles changed the pitch of the sound.
They used a variety of different activities to establish the relationship between the size of the vibration and the volume of the sound produced.

Year 2 made salads this week. After peeling, grating, cutting and mixing their ingredients they tasted it and gave it a thumbs up! Thanks to Mrs Howcroft and her team for the yummy honey dressing.
Year 2 have also enjoyed reading ‘The Troll’ their Pathways Reading text. This week they read through the text in their groups and investigated how many syllables each word had.
KS1 Drawing Club have been creating surprise folding pictures. They followed instructions to create an ice cream cone that when unfolded became an ice cream tower!
Year 3 have been creating timelines in their English lessons this week in preparation for writing a recount from the point of view of the seal in our class text. The children have enjoyed reading Seal Surfer by Michael Foreman, learning about true friendship and what that means to the different characters in the story.
In their writing lessons, Year 5 have been mapping a sequence of incidents to help them plan a recount. In teams, they worked on adding descriptions of the main events, fronted adverbials, emotions and rhetorical questions. We can't wait to read their finished work next week when they use their plans to write about Annie's adventure!
