Changing Stars Malawi
We are excited to share the Easter adventures of 2 former Brontë House pupils. Will Brammer and Joe Gilbert, now in Year 7, who travelled out with their Mums to meet, and volunteer with, Changing Stars Malawi.
All of our donated uniforms was handed out to children in the refugee camps, following the devastating impact of Cyclone Freddy. Thank you to everyone who donated to the ABA and FOWG Pre-Loved fundraising. Thanks ABA and FOWG
Ashdown Lodge
Reception have been exploring outside to find signs of summer. They used magnifying glasses and the ipads to take pictures of what they found; lots of dandelions, daisies, bees and butterflies. The sun was even shining too!
Welcome back to everyone for the Summer term.
Year 1 have been busy weaving wool, to create paper plate flowers.
In science, Year 2 have been learning about the life processes that tell them whether something is alive/living. We looked at pictures and decided whether they were alive/not alive or dead or alive/never been alive and put them into the correct sorting ring.
This week, Year 4 went on a leaf hunt as part of their science topic. They learned about the different features of leaves and used an identification system to work out what we have growing on our grounds.
Cumbrian Adventure for Year 5
Year 5 seem to have had a fantastic time in the Lake District on their residential. Very busy having fun and trying lots of new activities, including climbing, raft building, gorge walking and canoeing. They even got sunshine on their Cumbrian adventure!
Year 4 have been investigating how a coastline is formed, in preparation for their trip to Boggle Hole next week. They had to find coastal areas on a map and decide what type of landforms they were.
Individual Successes
Congratulations to Year 5 pupils, Florence and Phoebe Chatterton, who were awarded joint Under 10 ‘Player of the Season’ at Ben Rhydding Hockey Club’s presentation evening last weekend.
Congratulations to Poppy Bedford, Year 6, who recently competed for her gymnastic grades. Poppy finished 4th overall at National Level 3, which is open age and against much older girls. Her top 5 finish means she has qualified to compete for Yorkshire at the National Finals in May. Good luck Poppy!
