Thank you to everyone for your support and contributions for both Red Nose Day and today’s Blue and Yellow non uniform day for Ukraine. We are still adding up contributions but are delighted to be sending a significant contribution to DEC. A number of the children were keen to help in some way and our combined efforts will hopefully provide some comfort to those affected. We would also like to thank the ABA for their Easter competition, there were some very imaginative eggs and below are some of our very happy winners!

Aladdin in Trouble

Brontë Knitwits showed great commitment Wow what a show! The comments from the audience about the professionalism and and skill knitting adorable Easter chicks. energy were extraordinary. Superb individual performances supported by a very energetic all-singing all-dancing chorus made us all very proud. A huge thank you to Mr Phenny and all the staff involved and especially to Year 3 and Year 4 for giving it their all.

Y1 and Y2 Stem Club were using their DT skills to create 3D Easter egg cards. Once they had solved how a 2D shape could create a 3D egg shape, they began cutting, folding and glueing. They completed their cards with an Easter message.

Year 5 have been putting their artistic skills Lots of Easter fun also in Pre-Nursery. The to work, creating handmade cards for their children hunted for eggs in the straw and nearest and dearest! used their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination skills to place them in the egg boxes. They enjoyed exploring the straw and were very pleased when they found an egg!

With the sudden (and brief!) arrival of Spring, Pre Nursery felt the need to plant some seeds. They will take them home and watch them grow over the holidays. Whose will grow the tallest?

Lion Learners came into Nursery and told pupils all about, and how to look after all the different animals that they brought. All of the children had to be super sensible and quiet so that they didn't scare the animals.

They were very brave and held tarantulas, lizards and snakes amongst other things.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors Reception have been making the most of the beautiful weather and their new outdoor resources.

They also took a trip to the Potting Garden as part of their Outdoor Explorers lesson.

They have their own bedding area and spent time turning over the soil and removing weeds.

Reception Visit to Baildon

Year 12 Visit to Ashdown Lodge 7 of our Year 12 English language students visited Ashdown Lodge to research Children's Language Development. An invaluable experience interacting with our youngest students and applying some of the terminology and theory to real examples of children's language acquisition.

Reception had a fantastic trip to the nature reserve in Baildon. They did pond dipping activities and found frog spawn, tadpoles, water fleas, cold water shrimp and a leech.

They also had a walk around the reserve looking under rocks etc and found a newt.

Year 1 have been very busy designing and making London vehicles over the last few weeks. They labelled their designs with the materials they planned to use and then painted their chosen boxes. They attached axles and wheels and then added the finishing touches! The final step was to evaluate the finished models and consider how they could be improved. Most children were very pleased with their models and gave them full marks of 10/10!

Fabulous Rock Pets As part of their Earth Art topic, Year 2 have been designing and creating rock pets. They looked at how native Americans and aborigines painted on rocks to communicate stories and record events and how they used minerals from the earth mixed with different liquids as their paint.

Year 2 have been looking at block graphs and pictograms in maths. They worked together to decide which type of books were on their table and then create a pictogram where each symbol represented 1 book.

In PSHEE, Year 2 focussed on collaboration and how it can increase effectiveness. They looked at the different skills needed to work as a team and realised that listening to each other and sharing roles is important.

Murton Park Trip Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their Roman day at Murton Park near York this week. The children dressed as Roman legionaries and took part in drills. They also learned about the spread of the Roman Empire and made some excellent oil lamps from clay.

Cross Country News The Bronte House Cross Country team ran superbly at Sandal Primary School last week.

The course was a long one, but everyone ran their own race and finished strongly. The boys won the team race, with Tom Goodison the first runner home. Well done everyone!

On Saturday 26th March, Elijah Tedd attended the National Primary Schools Cross Country Finals in Leicestershire.

Elijah received a medal for finishing 8th overall in the Y3 combined boys and girls race.

Snow Fun So we know it caused a little disruption but it was very beautiful and fun for some!

Nursery got togged up in their all-weather suits and had fun in the snow!
