It has truly been a wonderful term at Brontë House School. We would like to wish all families and members of staff a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Nursery have been learning how to sign different Christmas songs this week. They have had lots of fun singing songs like ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘ When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney’.
Reception have been learning how to keep their teeth healthy. They talked about visiting the dentist, eating and drinking healthily and brushing their teeth. They were all given a toothbrush and had a go at brushing their teeth together. They all got to take home their toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste. Reception have also been learning about Hanukkah and drew candles on a menorah to represent the oil lamp burning for 8 days.
Year 1 enjoyed exchanging Christmas cards they had made for their Year 6 Buddies this week. There was lots of excited chatter about the upcoming Christmas holidays and the Year 6 children also listened to their Buddies read.
In Year 1 and 2 STEM club, the children enjoyed using the pattern blocks to replicate a Christmas picture or design one of their own. They all had such fabulous ideas.
In Art this week Year 3 have enjoyed using bow-tie pasta to create some lovely Christmas cards for their families and friends! Reception had a special visitor this week, Father Christmas took time out of his very . busy schedule to come and read them a story and deliver an early Christmas present!
Year 5 have been busy assembling their mixed-media, Rousseau inspired collages. These works of art are going to look fantastic!
Thank you to everyone for supporting the ABA Christmas Fair. It was a huge success, we hope everyone enjoyed the day and Santa is looking forward to visiting all the children again soon!
Year 6 observed an ox heart dissection this week, to further their understanding of the human circulatory system; with some of them keen to assist Mr Gallucci in locating some of the key structures of the heart.
House Rugby
Last week, Year 6 were putting the finishing touches to their Mayan mask designs linking with their studies on the Mayan Civilisation.
This week some of the children took part in House rugby, Mr Waterhouse reported it to be yet another ‘cracking’ competition. Well done to everyone involved but a big congratulations to Ingleborough for taking the trophy home!
Year 2 enjoyed their trip to the Fireground museum in Rochdale. They carried out a workshop where they shared their knowledge about the Great Fire of London. They also had the opportunity to look at lots of different fire engines and try on different fire fighter Years 4-6 went to the Theatre to watch Oliver! uniforms. See more photos on Flickr.
Our Brontë Knitwits have been hard at work this half term, making these rather splendid knitted Christmas tree decorations!
Mission Christmas
Our School Officials have been out delivering gifts this week, to be collected by Mission Christmas, and distributed to children in the local area. Once again, we are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our School Council families. Thank you to everyone for your Year 1 and their school fabulous contributions. council candidates with their fabulous posters. (This was missed from the last edition.)
Huge congratulations to our Athletics Captain on beating the best runners in the county to WIN the U11 Boys’ West Yorkshire Cross Country League 2023. What an inspiration!
As the end of term approached there have been lots of fantastic festive activities the children have been getting involved in. There have been nativities, Christmas fairs, Carol Services, Christmas Jumper and Party days, Christmas Club Advents Calendars, Theatre Trips and most importantly giving back to the community which would not have been possible without the generosity of all our families at Brontë. Thank you!
