New Uniform in Full Effect If you’re looking to purchase new school uniform during the summer break, please remember that from September our new uniform will be in full effect throughout the school and means that everyone will be required to wear it. Green outer garments will still be acceptable for the foreseeable future (green coats, school bags, hats, scarf and gloves). Reception had a fantastic morning at Kemps Farm on Wednesday. They went on the tractor and trailer around the farm looking at the strawberry, raspberry and pumpkin plants. They could see the flowers and some green strawberries growing, which will hopefully turn red in the next couple of weeks and be ready for picking. Mrs Kemp explained how they grow the strawberries and what they must do to protect them from wildlife. The children used magnifying glasses to look in the hedgerows for minibeast and at different plants and planted their own strawberry plant to take home and grow. Year 1 worked together to identify 3D objects and sort them into the correct categories. Some children decided to create their own categories for other 3D objects. They were also successful in making a cuboid from a net template.
In PSHEE, Year 1 have been discussing different ways to manage feelings that make them feel unhappy or cross. They acted out the ones they thought would help them feel better. These included listening to music, exercising, reading a book, and talking to someone else. There are certainly some 'greenfingers' in Year 1! Our sunflower plants have been so well cared for that we needed to use a metre ruler to measure their height today. Our tallest measurement was 50cm with 11 leaves... well done Zachary!
Year 2 have been introduced to their new text Grandad's Secret Giant by David Litchfield, a book about belonging and friendship. They listened to a description of the giant then drew what they thought he would look like. We definitely have some imaginative and budding artists in Year 2.
Year 2 have begun their new unit of work 'Creating Pictures' and been learning about impressionism in their ICT lessons. They have been using the 2Paint a Picture programme on Purple Mash to create their own versions of Water Lily Pond by Monet.

We're forever blowing bubbles!
Year 5 DT Workshop
Year 4 had lots of fun investigating bubbles in their science lesson today. After some careful observations, they were set the challenge of making a bubble caterpillar.
Year 5 were very excited to visit the Design and Technology department today at Woodhouse Grove. Using CAD and CAM systems, they designed and produced a personalised wooden pencil case.
Don’t forget to come dressed in Pink for the Bronte Big Pink Marathon next Friday. All year groups are taking part and we are raising money for Candlelighters.
Year 5 enjoyed a sunny day investigating the force of friction outside this week. They were finding out which materials were most effective for use as a brake pad.
