ur imperfections make us very unique and also quite beautiful. Some of our appealing qualities are more profound when left imperfect than when considered flawless. Our blemishes and weaknesses can make us more charming and more beautiful. People who make mistakes are more fascinating than those who appear to be perfect. We cannot relate to perfect, we love people who are real. That is true beauty inside and out. Let's accept ourselves for who we are and who we are meant to be. We are all perfectly and authentically beautiful in our own special way and we should be proud of who we are.

Spring is in the Air

I somehow feel as if my senses are dramatically affected by this gorgeous season of Spring I feel so alive "There is a spring in my step" so to speak lol The anticipation of seeing the green grass again planning my trips to the garden centre to purchase my pretty flower favourites and switching out my heavy winter curtains with my pretty romantic sheers tend to put me in a really happy mood With the winter months feeling so long the excitement of this precious season makes me feel giddy with delight spring is the promise that everything will begin again letting go and embracing something new New love new beginnings rebirth birds butterflies and all the pretty flowers

EASTER

Jesus Christ's triumph over death.

The significance of Easter is Jesus Christ's triumph over death. His resurrection means the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. The purpose of Easter also means the full confirmation of all that Jesus taught and preached during His three-year ministry.

As an intuitive coach, how do you tap into your clients inner wisdom and help them gain clarity about their goals and desires? I believe that intuition is like a superpower. We use it every day in a myriad of ways. We use it in every transaction, negotiation, and relationship we engage in. Intuition is a deep inner listening... And we all have this ability. It’s quite common for people who have become stuck in a certain situation or belief system to have no idea what they want to be or do!! In fact, more times than not my clients have no idea where to begin (of course, if they did, they wouldn’t need me). And that is okay. Truth is, if they know that they want to create something better for themselves, that’s all that matters. From there I help them discern and recognize the differences between the voices of the inner critic and inner wisdom... both of which are consistently vying for attention.

All the answers we are looking for outside of ourselves already exist within…we just need processes, techniques, and protocols that develop that deep inner listening and that is what I offer. What role does mindset play in creating lasting and impactful changes in ones life, and how do you help your clients shift their mindset to achieve their goals?

The first step of my process is to help people acknowledge the inner voices that are beating them up, criticizing, judging, narrating, and scolding… each of us are truly our own worst critic – there are simple techniques and mindset steps that will help quieten the critical inner dialogue and from there we can start to create some action steps without a sense of foreboding or fear that tends to paralyze or creates procrastination.

Moira Hutchison

My coaching philosophy is based upon honoring each client as the expert in their life and work. I believe that every client is unique, naturally talented, creative, resourceful, and whole, and it is my job to:

• Discover, clarify, and align with what my clients want to achieve

• Encourage and support self-discovery

• Bring out client-generated solutions and strategies

• Co-create action plans to implement their solutions

• Hold clients responsible and accountable

Listening, truly listening, to my clients and asking powerful questions that open their horizon is at the core of who I am as a coach. I feel honored that my clients have described my coaching style as warm, caring, compassionate, insightful, innovative, enthusiastic, motivational, bold, rigorous, action-oriented, optimistic, intuitive, and fun... One of the best compliments a client can give is to say, “that was a great question”.

Q A

What I do is help them to feel better so they can create success on approach different from anything take complex spiritual ideas and easy to understand, implement and integrate on their own terms. Q A Q A

“Can you describe your approach to meditation and how it can support personal growth and transformation?”

I have witnessed extraordinary results, for both my clients and me, when we use mindbody-spirit well-being as the framework for achieving balance, ease, and harmony in life. As a person who consistently asks questions of the Universe and grows my own spiritual connection and practice - meditation, mindfulness and wellness for mind, body and soul have been a natural development for me and for those who feel drawn to learn from and be mentored by me… I have created a vast library of guided meditations that many of my clients return to repeatedly.

“How do you incorporate tarot card reading into your coaching and what insights you provide for your clients?”

I use tarot as a tool to explore issues and circumstances of clients lives where they seeking clarity or guidance. Clients find that I offer a gentle and empathetic bringing in meaningful information which has often been called remarkable by who have worked with me. I share requested information that provides reassurance, and confirmation to those who wish to know what their best way forward is. I help to empower clients by revealing potential choices and events in a way allows for whatever change may be desired. I believe that being able to see the and options ahead allows us the opportunity to implement change as necessary. then become the masters of our future and not simply servants to our fears.

“What are some common challenges or obstacles that your clients face in achieving their goals, and how do you help them overcome these challenges?”

Some of the common challenges my clients face in achieving their goals are:

Feeling stuck and anxious about where their life is heading.

Having a gnawing feeling that there must be something better for them in not sure where to go or what to do.

Looking for the reason(s) for their lack of success outside of themselves(i.e., upbringing / relationship (or lack of) / genetics).

Feeling upset or even feeling betrayed by the Universe (Source / God),due to the problems they have in their life.

When a Senior Woman Takes Her Power

WWhen I was younger, I saw age as a detriment. I refused to use the “o” word – and for many years, I was able to avoid it. As the years progressed, though I did grow older, my energy and ingenuity remained high, and in the corporate world where I had established myself in my field, I was at the top of my game

But time has a way of catching up with us, and eventually the cruel but inevitable reality crept in, and while I was not “required” to retire, let’s just say I was encouraged That was a hard hit I’d spent my life forging a path of relevance, and now, I felt that door was closing and the next one was opening to my becoming redundant, irrelevant. In a world where growth and productivity are key, “old” is a swear word, and anyone in that category is typically defined as one who belongs to a bygone era.

Age is a double-edged sword, really On one hand, work is hard, and so is raising a family Retirement should be a welcome relief from the harried pace of the working world and something wonderful to look forward to. And it is.

Yet after the retirement honeymoon when you can finally relax, indulge in pursuits, travel, or do nothing, you start to feel the onset of age discrimination: society relegating your once-valued voice to the background, your opinion considered mildly, if at all It’s a difficult wake-up call when you’re told your job is now to fade gently into the sunset

This time of life is particularly difficult for senior women as we struggle to redefine who we are. We may still feel like our youthful, vigorous selves inside, yet our outsides relegate us to the stereotype of “that dear old lady.” We may still command respect, but now it’s more because we’re old and less for all we’ve accomplished and contributed. “There, there, dear. You don’t have to concern yourself with that anymore,” they say with a pat on the shoulder and a condescending smile, meant to mentally push us into rocking chairs beside baskets of knitting.

A note to the proverbial “they” - Do not underestimate me

.

In my younger years, I was always a bit of a rebel. Now in my so-called old age, my attitude remains steadfastly, “Oh, yeah, just watch me!” I have no intention of fading into anything or becoming silent. I’ve taken on the stance of “You may not want my opinion, but you’re getting it anyway.”

Margaret Atwood is correct:

hen a Senior Woman kes Her Power

cultural dismissal by drafting a scathing world It soothes me that I name names marginally unethical behaviors that

“Words have power.”

My drafted story exposes the underbelly of what successful corporate life really involves But in the end, I knew this book could only be a revengeful exercise Great fun, but not to go anywhere given that telling the truth is fraught with (legal) peril I abandoned the project and instead turned to writing fiction. While it was not as satisfying as slinging arrows at unlikeable types from my former life, I have found great pleasure in entering the imaginary world of storytelling where at my convenience I can base my characters on the real-life appalling people who had once made my life miserable and speak to everything I want to without fear of repercussion

Annie Lamott’s fun and insightful quote has become a commandment of mine “You own everything that happened to you Tell your stories If people wanted you to speak warmly about them, they should have behaved better.”

After I retired, I wondered how I would carve out a new path for myself, one on which I would continue to be relevant and productive but on new terms It was writing that gave me renewed purpose and utilized my passion I am now an established author with four published novels and a fifth novel in progress, all mystery/thrillers in which deceitful characters plague the lives of decent hardworking people. Even in fiction, whispers of truth resonate through the storylines because a lifetime of experiences is the richest material For creative women of a certain age, we have that many more stories to tell As long as we use our voices, which only get richer and more interesting with age, we can continue to claim our power through words.

Hello Gorgeous G

A space where women can heal, where they can connect to themselves, and find their true purpose and path in life while being supported and nurtured. For women to know that it is okay to be who they are, and where they want to go and to be reminded of the true Goddesses that lie within.

This has been my dream, my goal, and most of my life has been designed and directed to be able to be present for these beautiful women who allow me to be here for them, hold space for them, and be a guide. I have been a certified esthetician since 2005, a Reiki healer master and teacher since 2014, a past life regression facilitator since 2017, a hatha yoga teacher since 2018, an ayurvedic practitioner since 2019, a yoni (uterus) steam facilitator since 2022, Kundalini Yoga teacher since 2021, I make my own allnatural skincare and body line devoted to the Devis (Goddesses) and I am currently undergoing my certification as a birth, labor, and postpartum doula. I am a guide for those who feel like there is more to this realm, more to this earthly plane. I am here to help and guide them to that whisper they hear deep in their soul, that pull, that knowing that just won’t go away. Almost like a thirst that needs to be quenched, the thirst for soulful knowledge. I am here to assist and show those who seek the tools to strengthen their connection so that you can hear the whispers more clearly and understand and follow your intuition more confidently

Hello, my loves! My name is Faith Koltak. I am a mastectomy and hysterectomy support expert, a trauma conscious master coach –which means that I’ve invested tens of thousands of dollars and several years in trauma-specific training –and a Shamanic healer. I’m based out of Denver, Colorado, and I have a global client base.

BBefore I had my hysterectomy in 2022, I spoke with several women who told me that they were surprised by the sense of loss and/or grief that they experienced when they had hysterectomies.

I understand cellular memory. I understand how much we - women - tend to bury and store in our womb spaces throughout our lives -- trauma, often related to sexual abuse; mother wounds; sister wounds; money wounds; the conflict between masculine and our Divine Feminine. There's so much there that most women don't even think to acknowledge.

I knew that and so, armed with the wisdom of the women who had gone before me, I went to Ceremony before my surgery, to acknowledge and release those things, and the cells and tissues that would be removed from my body, leaving an empty space. That space, too, I was claiming as my own.

When it came time for my mastectomy, I knew that I needed Ceremony, but I also needed emotional support in a larger way. There was a lot to work through – fear; emotions; stories about who I am, who I’ve been, and who I will become; trauma; and the ways in which my identity was tied to my breasts, to name a few. I had a lot to process and release in order to avoid feeling regret, loss, or grief after my surgery. I went to work and, later, built an offering for other women based on my own success.

Women Rock Magazine | 16

became obvious to me, quickly, that this is part of my calling: I am uniquely equipped to offer this healing to other women -- to uncover the stories, the traumas, the consent violations, the grief, the shame; whatever it is that has been trapped, hidden, buried, or carefully tucked away for safekeeping in her breasts, to determine what needs to be gently moved somewhere else to be held and what needs to be examined, acknowledged, perhaps thanked, and released, in order to energetically create a blank canvas for the surgeons, and allow for less physical and emotional trauma for the woman

I was talking with the nurse in my plastic surgeon’s office about birthing this offering, and about my own mastectomy journey. When I told her that when I looked in the mirror for the first time after my surgery and thought, "Of course this is what my body looks like now," her response was, "That's amazing! Most women tell me that they cried when they looked in the mirror for the first time after surgery Most women heal from the hurt instead of healing from the heart

“As always, I'm here because I've been there.”

Here's the YouTube video from my website. It talks about the trauma work that I do, and shares some of my personal story:

An interesting aside, but something that many of your readers will certainly notice: an unintended (but welcome) by-product of my own personal healing journey has been a nearly 50 lb weight loss over the past year, without any effort on my part. This is what happens when we find our alignment and live in it!

THE SWINGING BELLES

What a year it’s been for The Swinging Belles, a Juno award winning swing band from St John’s, NL who focus on creating music for the young and the young at heart. They have recently been nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, and an East Coast Music Award, and WON a 2024 Juno Award for their most recent album “Welcome to the Flea Circus” and are thrilled to have shows lining up all over the country for the summer touring season.

The Swinging Belles came together in 2015 as a collaboration between elementary educators and musicians Erin Power and Laura Winter and guitar maestro Duane Andrews. Sharing songs created for their classrooms quickly moved into fantastic, fun songwriting sessions between Erin and Laura who were soon joined by Duane. “It just all clicked. Sometimes you just get lucky in life and find these wonderful creative partners that inspire and ignite a spark of artistic innovation that’s rare to find and that’s what happened for us.” explains Power. They quickly moved into the studio and galvanized their entry into the world of family entertainment with their debut album More Sheep, Less Sleep which won the 2016 Juno Award for Children’s Album of the Year

Since the release of that album, they have been delighted to find a warm welcome in the festival touring circuit introducing them to families all across Canada and as far away as France. After nearly 10 years of making music together, their love and commitment to creating quality music for young people continues to flourish. ”Being able to perform for people is truly a gift. It's uplifting and joyous in every way imaginable.”

We get the opportunity to interact with people of all ages and to really witness the joy good music brings and the effect it has on others.” explains Laura. Many times, The Swinging Belles are the first live musical experience a child experiences and they work hard to create an interactive, high energy show that hopes to inspire these budding creatives to celebrate their individuality and to follow their own passions and interests wherever they may lead.

Erica Coultas Kennedy and Laura Coultas have been working together as a team for six years. Currently operating under the trusted RE/MAX banner these like-minded business owners consistently thrive in building the” Coultas and CO. Family Realtor® Brand.

With a combined 19 years of real “estate experience, they have been through an extensive number of transactions that vary in price range, geographical area, property styles, and property categories.

What does the brand mean for the Coultas and CO. women? Foremost - they want their clients to feel part of the Coultas Family umbrella.

The Coultas women understand the trials and tribulations of navigating through buying and selling properties, the roller coaster of emotions that come with “the entire process”, and the intense dynamics that come into play when it comes to a family’s expectations during any real estate transaction.

ERICA

Coultas and Co Family Realtors Making Quality Connections

There are so many puzzle pieces that are unique to the specific needs of each client along with the diversity of the properties their families may require. Every property sold brings a new set of rules and challenges that Erica and Laura are dedicated to assisting their clients to navigate through. They admit every day is a new learning experience, as each interaction from the first connection to final closing presents a vast number of things to consider that require attention throughout the entire process. The dedication to each and every client no matter what issues are thrown their way are important to the Coultas women to ensure the best possible outcome.

Background on the Coultas Women

LAURA

Erica’s entrepreneurial spirit has always been in her blood. Throughout the “years she has always shown a love for competitive sports where Erica shined in her own basketball abilities. During her studies at Memorial University Erica dedicated her spare time as an elite player with the MUN Sea Hawks Women’s basketball team. Her love of the sport, competitive personality, and willingness to improve her skills assisted in building “meaningful relationships and unbreakable bonds with her fellow teammates.

It was no surprise that these experiences inspired Erica to embark in her own ventures and created Future Stars, City Stars, and Max Basketball programs. With over twenty years experience of local, national and international playing and coaching she continues to bring her expert knowledge to the court with St. John’s Minor Basketball.

Erica happily volunteers time in creating pockets of basketball families by sharing her skills, wisdom, and expertise of the game to a variety of young athletes.

Laura’s entrepreneurial spirit blossomed throughout her mid-twenty’s. She came by it honestly with both her parents owning and operating their respective businesses. Laura was encouraged to forge her own path, where ever that might lead, and she successfully opened the Five Island Art Gallery.

With the help of family, this seasonal venture operated for 14 years. It was with a lot of gratitude that Laura accepted the Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award through NLOWE for the work she did at the Gallery. Her skills as a business owner and through working with various government agencies showed that Laura had an innate trait of being able to develop genuine and respectful connections with people.

It is that same family bond thread she has formed throughout her professional and personal life and a trait that continues to hold her in good stead.

Charmed I’m Sure!

Ihave to admit that renovating my Dad’s kitchen when I was home in St. John’s NL was a pretty exciting project for me. My Dad, of course, was even more excited! We were both ready to tackle this long awaited design venture and delighted for the transformation to begin.

This kitchen was screaming for help and a lot of TLC and that’s just what I had in mind. I had the top portion of his dated kitchen cabinets, along with the very spacious pantry professionally painted/sprayed in a gorgeous super white with a satin finish to brighten the space and ease of cleanability. The bottom portion of the cabinets were sprayed in a Coventry gray, a gorgeous medium gray with a hint of warm beige. The colour is really stunning and a perfect choice to tie in other elements chosen for this space.

MEAND MY DAD

WEincorporated elegant matte black curved hardware, a beautiful black granite sink, brand new stainless steel appliances, new light fixtures with wrought iron finishes, a new marble black/white/beige countertop and a gorgeous matte black curved faucet with an easy to use spray handle for convenience and comfort

My Dad stumbled upon this beautiful blue/gray moveable kitchen island on his shopping travels with drawers for storage and a sturdy shelf for cookbooks and knickknacks The island is very handy for preparing meals plus it adds a cute wow factor with its beautiful soft cool modern colour. This island was much needed and fits perfectly into his beautiful kitchen space It was a perfect find!

I integrated this gorgeous contemporary subway tile in a dove gray/gloss finish for the back splash and paired it with a soft white grout which added a punch to the tile The contrast of the white against the gray is absolutely perfect and quite appealing to the eye The charm and sophistication of this updated kitchen truly is amazing It was certainly worth waiting for It is a perfect kitchen for family gatherings, delicious dinners, and games with the whole family. The kitchen really is the heart of the home, and this one just received a whole lotta love

My Dad is absolutely thrilled with his new kitchen and very excited to now hang out and cook his favourite meals in his newly updated and charming contemporary kitchen adding black and slate blue accents in some the accessories and elements also added a touch of a farmhouse feel which my dad really does love.

Tiled brick is making a big comeback in 2024. This architectural choice instantly adds texture and interest to a patio, kitchen, or even a feature wall. Trends are shifting more toward patinated and reused materials and fixtures— not like the reclaimed wood phase, but more in the arena of materials like antique tile, brick, antique stone sinks, and antique windows.

Waiting for Spring

How to keep your space feeling fresh and bright while waiting for Spring to arrive.

Winter is still among us and I know that we are all aching for some sunshine and warmth!

Spring is coming! Have hope! Have patience!

In the meantime, there are little

things we can do to add some brightness to our home and into our lives:

Green Up Your Space:

It’s amazing how leafy, green, healthy houseplants can give energy to any space - especially during the winter They rejuvenate us, clean our air and add beauty to our decor. Start with one plant that makes you smile Nurture it, water it and it will grow beautifully - giving you confidence in expanding your indoor collection!

Display real flowers

Mirrors

If you are like me, you love flowers any time of the year! Especially in the winter when it is cold, dark and snowy outside There is just something so uplifting about seeing flowers in your home They make me smile Why not treat yourself and your family with flowers to add beauty to your space and to your eye.

I love working with mirrors! They have so many different uses - functional and decorative. Do you have a dark room, space or hallway? Try hanging a mirror to help fill the room with natural light, make it brighter and open up the space Tip - hang a mirror opposite a window or sliding glass door so the light bounces off the mirror into the space Mirrors are design magic!

Women Rock Magazine | 44

Howtokeepyourspacefeelingfreshand

Pop of Colour

It’s only natural that we use darker colours during the winter, making our spaces feel more warm and cozy Lighter shades of cream, beige, green and grey also add relaxing energy Why not lift up your space by selecting lighter or brighter colours and shades of accessories- pillows, throws and curtains You can be sure it will also lift your spirits!

Combine Texture, Elements of Nature & Of Course Birds!

I love combining texture and nature anytime of the year, but at the end of the winter, leading into Spring, is my favourite time! There is just something calming about bringing nature into your home Driftwood, rocks, shells and branches, are all easy ways for you to do just that Adding birds, bird nests and feathers also brings Spring into our space Texture in fabrics add interest - both to the touch and visually, especially in cushions Jute or sisal rugs can add that finishing touch Wicker and rattan pieces add lightness and a casual, relaxing feel.

Ihope some of these tips inspire you to bring some light into your home while we get ready to welcome Spring!

HEALTHY LIVING

5 keys to a Longer Life

Women Rock Magazine | 46

These five areas were chosen because prior studies have shown them to have a large impact on risk of premature death. Here is how these healthy habits were defined and measured:

1. Healthy diet, which was calculated and rated based on the reported intake of healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, healthy fats, and omega-3 fatty acids, and unhealthy foods like red and processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, trans fat, and sodium.

2. Healthy physical activity level, which was measured as at least 30 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous activity daily.

3. Healthy body weight, defined as a normal body mass index (BMI), which is between 18.5 and 24.9.

4. Smoking, well, there is no healthy amount of smoking. "Healthy" here meant never having smoked.

5. Moderate alcohol intake, which was measured as between 5 and 15 grams per day for women, and 5 to 30 grams per day for men. Generally, one drink contains about 14 grams of pure alcohol. That's 12 ounces of regular beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits.

Researchers also looked at data on age, ethnicity, and medication use, as well as comparison data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Wide-Ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research.

Does a healthy lifestyle make a difference?

As it turns out, healthy habits make a big difference. According to this analysis, people who met criteria for all five habits enjoyed significantly, impressively longer lives than those who had none: 14 years for women and 12 years for men (if they had these habits at age 50). People who had none of these habits were far more likely to die prematurely from cancer or cardiovascular disease.

Itis difficult to express the love and affection we have come to have for these children in Uganda. For the past eight years, we have taken care of their every need, but most importantly their education.

Secondly, their love for themselves. They have all become so confident with their abilities and we truly feel the connection we have made with them, which in turn, makes them feel wanted, important and deserving of a successful life. To tell you how we feel is irrelevant, but let me tell you how they feel:

Dear Hope, How are you? Let me hope that you are fine. My name is Maria. I’m in S3, year 2024 at Iganga High school and I’m working hard to be a midwife after my studies. The reason as to why I am writing this letter is to greatly thank you for the work well done in our lives more than words can express my happiness and love hearts are holding thank you so much for the care love and for everything you have done for me. May the Almighty God reward you. I am so grateful that you came into my life. Thank you so much for the support. I really appreciate the love and the care that you have given to me. I don’t even have much to say. Whenever I remember that you’re soon leaving, I just feel like crying. How I wish it could be possible for you to go and work so that we have a bright future. I just pray to the Almighty God to continue protecting you all as you continue helping us, I can’t just forget the memories that we have shared with you just know, I love you very much more than words can express how my heart is grateful for you. Just know I love you so so so much. Just wish you safe travels and blessings in whatever you do.

Our trip in January 2024, opened our eyes to their resilience, their sincere effort of schooling and their sense of a family. When HOPE began our journey eight years ago, nobody knew where this would lead. No one could have predicted that we now have a law school student (Nelson) an accounting student (Junior) and a girl starting university, hoping to become a teacher (Cathy).

Providing these young ones with an opportunity they never knew they had has opened doors for them, doors which will lead into a very successful life, not only for them, but everyone around them.

BOAT RIDE TO MERCHISON FALLS

of the biggest achievements of this visit was providing six of the oldest girls with birth control. According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics, almost one quarter of Uganda women have given birth by the age of 18. Teenage pregnancy incidences were shown to be mostly caused by a lack of education, lack of access to contraception and health information and autonomy making decisions. Teenage pregnancy is greatly influenced by early marriage, rape or sexual abuse of married or unmarried females. We sat down with all the children and had an open discussion on the “birds and the bees” but more importantly giving the girls their right to decide when they want to have a child, and we hoped to impress upon them that their education is the most important thing at this time in their life.

Before we left to go home, we saw most of the children off to school, with all the requirements purchased and uniforms pressed. HOPE are like proud parents, smiling from ear to ear with admiration for those young children. They have come so far in life and it is now our intention to make sure they all succeed.

What a wonderful world we live in when small efforts by many can make such a huge impact in the world.

If you would like to follow along with our journey, visit our website at H.O.P.E. (helping orphans prosper through education). If you would like to support our journey where every single cent goes directly to help these children, feel free to contact us through our Facebook site.

Our Tree of Life Planted on their Wall

During our most recent trip, we took all 23 children on an overnight safari to Murchison Falls, which included a boat trip up to the Falls. They got to see all kinds of wildlife such as hippos, elephants, giraffes, and Buffalo. They beamed with joy throughout the entire trip.

Back in Jinja, we shopped for some badly needed new mattresses for their beds, some fabric to reupholster their family room couch and some fresh paint to paint the walls and paint a family tree, which included photos of our entire family.

Benny’s Comfort Bear program from New Brunswick, sent us 20 beautiful home knit teddy bears. We were delighted to give the bears out to some sweet children in Jinja and at the newly built medical clinic, in Kawaaga, opened by Newfoundland optometrists, Genille and Justin French (APEX Impact Foundation).

Ah, the arrival of Spring - the season of renewal, growth, and endless possibilities.

Embrace the Spring Season:

Sell Your Home at the Optimal Time of Year

It's not just nature that gets a fresh start; the real estate market also springs to life during this vibrant time of year. If you're considering selling your home, there's no better time than spring to make your move. Let's explore the benefits of selling in spring, how sellers can prepare their properties to captivate spring buyers, and what buyers are seeking when hunting for their dream home.

Benefits of Selling in Spring:

Preparing Your Property for Spring Buyers:

Increased Demand: As winter fades away and people emerge from hibernation, the real estate market experiences a surge in activity. Spring is traditionally a busy time for homebuyers, resulting in heightened demand and more potential buyers vying for properties.

Favorable Timing: Families often prefer to move during the summer months to avoid disrupting the school year. Listing your home in spring allows buyers to settle in before the start of the new school term, appealing to family-oriented buyers.

Market Momentum: Spring marks the beginning of the busiest homebuying season, creating a sense of urgency among buyers. With increased competition, sellers may receive multiple offers, driving up the selling price and maximizing returns.

Clean and Declutter: Start by giving your home a thorough cleaning to make it shine. Decluttering spaces will make rooms appear larger and more inviting to potential buyers. Consider hiring a professional cleaner for a deep clean, including carpets, windows, and hard-to-reach areas.

Update and Maintain: Make necessary repairs and updates to enhance the appeal of your home. Fresh paint, modern fixtures, and updated appliances can breathe new life into your property and attract discerning buyers. Focus on high-impact areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms to make a lasting impression.

Enhance Curb Appeal: The exterior of your home is the first thing buyers see, so make it count. Plant colorful flowers, trim hedges, and ensure the lawn is well-maintained. A welcoming entrance with a freshly painted door and updated hardware sets the stage for a positive viewing experience.

Stage for Success: Stage your home to showcase its full potential and help buyers envision themselves living there. Arrange furniture to maximize space and highlight key features of each room. Neutralize décor and personal items to appeal to a broad range of tastes.

Embrace the Spring Season:

Sell Your Home at the Optimal Time of Year

What Buyers Look for in a Home:

Cleanliness: A clean and well-maintained home signals to buyers that the property has been cared for and is move-in ready. Pay attention to detail, from sparkling countertops to spotless floors, to create a lasting impression.

Updates and Modern Features: Buyers are drawn to homes with modern amenities and updated features. Consider investing in energy-efficient appliances, smart home technology, and stylish finishes to appeal to today's buyers.

Outdoor Living Space: Outdoor living areas are increasingly important to buyers, especially during the spring and summer months. A well-manicured lawn, spacious deck, or inviting patio can significantly enhance the desirability of your home.

Location and Neighborhood: Buyers consider factors such as proximity to schools, parks, amenities, and transportation when evaluating a property. Highlight the advantages of your home's location and the unique features of the neighborhood to attract potential buyers.

To sum up, spring is an exciting time to sell your home and capitalize on the buoyant real estate market. By preparing your property to dazzle spring buyers and showcasing its best features, you can maximize its appeal and secure a successful sale. Whether you're a seller looking to move on to new opportunities or a buyer searching for your dream home, spring offers endless possibilities in the world of real estate

“Practice like a devil to play like an angel...”

““I can say without a doubt that I have the chance to do what I really love - making classical music. It’s been a long and hard road to get to where I am now and I’m proud that I’ve achieved everything on my own without any protection or connections.

As an immigrant from Austria, as well as being a woman, I had to work much harder than natives or male colleagues to achieve recognition and success. But women continue to get paid less than men, even though we are often much better. And here I am: concert harpist and music teacher with over 65 top prizes and awards (Grand Prix or 1st prize) from international harp competitions and festivals, international juror and chairperson of various competitions, orchestra and chamber music musician, film and studio recording artist (11 CDs), author, manager, coach, confidant... In a word: one woman entertainer. As further recognition of my skills - I’m a Gold Badge Holder of National Society “Mati Bolgaria”, I have been officially listed at “Who is Who Austria” since 2009 and have been awarded with The Austrian citizenship since December 2010.

My teachers were never on the jury when I participated in competitions and my students never participate when I am on the jury. This is the only correct and respectful way to treat people in this business. If I had to start all over again, I would choose the same path, perhaps a little better, with more luck and greater starting capital which can help to focus only on art. My devise is to aim for high quality and not for profit, because what you can do, no one can take away from you. So, you have to practice like a devil to play like an angel.

Harp Angel

Maria Tuturilova

Let me start with telling you a little bit about myself. Once upon a time... That’s how all fairy tales begin... I was born in Sofia/Bulgaria into a family where no one was a musician, but with pretty interesting backgrounds. My mother’s grandmother was the nanny of HM King Simeon II Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and my father’s mother sewed the gowns for the Romanian Queen. I didn’t have the chance to meet them in person, but this is our small family history. As I often joke, we must have some “blue blood” in our veinsmaybe that’s why I love history, art and fashion. By the way, all my stage dresses are designed, and hand made by my mom. So, me and my sister Dimitrinka (violinist) are the first generation of musicians. But back to me: After learning ballet and ice skating, I began my music education at the age of 7 with the piano and later with the harp at the age of 11. Years later, I’m holding 4 Master’s degrees (Harp, Music pedagogy, Piano & Organ, Conducting) and God willing, soon 2 Doctorate degrees. Big financial support during my studies were the scholarships for high achievements I gained: International Foundation “Open Society Soros”, Zonta International, Herbert von Karajan Center; Thyll-Dürr Foundation, LMN “Yehudi Menuhin”, World Harp Congress Focus on Youth, etc. Learning from some of the best world harp teachers (Christova, Witsenburg, Michel, Moretti, etc.), working with great conductors (Morricone, Tabakov, Djurov, Milanov, Järvi, Previn, Russell Davies, Boulez, etc.) and orchestras (Sofia Soloists, Sofia Philharmonic, RSO, Tonkuenstler Orchester, Vienna State Opera-Children Opera-Vienna Philharmonic,Volksoper, etc.) - all these experiences have made me the artist I am today.

Women Rock Magazine | 56

Harp Angel

Why is this hard work worth it? Because children are our future and we have to invest everything in them. They just need to find the right teacher and their dream will come true. My name is Maria Tuturilova. I want to encourage all future artists to be brave no matter how difficult their current situation is, to think and believe in themselves and that things will get better again. Be strong, be a creative, authentic role model, be unique, never give up and don’t be afraid to ask for help - many selfish and envious people will ignore you, but there will also be for sure people who will reach out to support you. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are... And they will (hopefully) do the same for you.

I’m grateful that I can touch the hearts of an audience with my music. As everyone knows, I avoid publishing much of my personal and professional life, but this time I’m making a small exception sharing a personal experience with the readers of Women Rock Magazine, that only a few friends know about. In 2001, a renowned concert agency invited me to an audition at the Carnegie Hall. It was a great honor for me, my musical talent was recognized, and I was chosen between hundreds of candidates all over the world - at this time I was still a student, but already living in Vienna/Austria. I was quickly brought back to the “reality” in order in short time to apply for my visa, to organize the expensive transport of the harp and finance the trip to NY. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible for me, because I was on my own. Blessing in disguise! Apparently, I had a guardian angel. Today, 23 years after 9/11 (by the way, the audition was supposed to take place around 9/11), I’m grateful that I didn’t have the money to make the trip back then. There are several more stories in my life where I have experienced near death situations.

When I think about why all this has happened to me, the only plausible explanation that comes to my mind is that there must be a reason why I am still here, and I must have a mission. Maybe that’s why I feel the need to help people, working with and dedicating my life to children and teenagers, supporting and teaching them in the best possible way the art of discipline, character, passion and joy, feeling and hearing what is an expressive, nice and clear sound, to be 100% correct to what the music score says, trying to be perfect and achieve their highest quality music performance whether they play as a hobby or professionally. For this reason, the profession of a classical musician and teacher has a lot in common with competitive sports, which is all about achieving top performance at crucial moments.

The four-leaf clover is distinctive from the common clover known as a “Shamrock”, which has only three leaves. And just like a lottery ticket, finding a winning one that has FOUR leaves, is rare, approximately 1 in 10,000.

Shamrocks define the Irish tradition of St. Patricks Day, and are common in celebration paraphernalia from hats, to necklaces, rings, balloons, green T shirts, green beer and so on. In fact in Chicago, they dye the river GREEN to celebrate the occasion!

Celtic Fairies are not the pretty little things you see in Disney, rather, they were evil little creatures that could play deadly tricks, ruin crops, steal children and so on. So having the power of the four leaf clover allowed one to spot these and take the necessary course of action to avoid harm!

The link of four leaf clovers to St. Patrick’s Day dates back to the time when St. Patrick brought Christianity to ancient Ireland. He used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity: one leaf represented the Father, the next the Son and the third the Holy Ghost.

The legend of the Shamrock and its connection to ancient Irish heritage dates back to Celtic Lore, where Shamrocks were standard as good luck to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and the rare four leaf clover, were one step above this because the one carrying it could see “Fairies”.

However, the belief that four-leaf clovers are lucky may have already existed among the Celtic peoples, probably because of the proliferation of clovers in Ireland, and the rarity of finding one with four leaves. Many Celtic traditions were blended with the new religion over the years, and the importance of the clover was one of them. The four-leaf clover meaning became intertwined with Christianity so that the first three leaves came to represent faith, hope and love, and the fourth leaf, God’s grace or luck.

Hey! It’s been a minute! Last time we spoke I had closed my business, sold my home and moved to beautiful Türkiye. My story was in the Fall 2021 edition of Women Rock Magazine. Hope you have been doing well!

Since I moved to Fethiye I have discovered that it is one of the most beautiful places in Türkiye and maybe the world. I love hiking and my Instagram page is filled withpicturesofmyadventures.Istartedto receive messages from total strangers asking if I could take them on a hike during their visit to this area. And why not? I am going anyway. I might as well havesomecompany.

Rhonda at Butterfly Valley Butterfly Valley is a valley in Fethiye district, Muğla Province, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey

Ever heard of the Lycian way? It is a 520 kilometre hiking trail that runs along the southern coast of Türkiye - from Fethiye to Antalya It is considered one of top ten hikesintheworldanditbeginsinmyback yard

But first a brief history. The Lycians were a seafaring people who settled in this region long before the Romans. In the 1990’s a British woman named Kate Clow researched and pioneered the Lycian way. Assisted by volunteers she marked the entire trail. Kate totally rocks! It takes a month to complete the trail so I have decidedtobreakitupintosections.

Along the route you will find the ruins of ancient cities established by the Lycians, breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, interesting flora and fauna, renowned Turkish hospitality, incredible food, and so much more The front cover of “Lonely Planet - Epic Hikes of Europe” features a picture from the Lycian Way overlooking fabulous Ölüdeniz beach and the Blue Lagoon. That section of the trail is within walking distance of my apartment. And it is stunning! A little further along the trail most tourists visit the famous Butterfly Valley. You will only see butterflies in the spring, but it is gorgeousanytimeoftheyear.

LetmetellyouaboutothersectionsthatIhave enjoyed. From the beautiful city of Kaş I did a kayakingtripwithfriendsthatpassedoverthe sunken city of Simena. Located on an island just off the coast this ancient city was struck by an earthquake and literally tipped over into the sea. You can see it quite clearly as you pass through the water. Another highlight for me was in Çıralı. Due to a natural gas source under the water there are fires burning constantly. Just imagine! The Lycians in that location never needed to start a fire. And if youtimeyourvisittoÇıralırightyoumightbe able to watch some baby sea turtles hatching andmakingtheirwaytothewater

I look forward to exploring other sections of theLycianWay IhopethatIhaveinspiredyou tocomeandcheckitoutforyourself Seeyou onthetrails

But what if I told you that it is not external circumstance that governs our stress levels, but our reaction to it.

The bad news is that stress is not going away. The good news is that you can practice controlling it, and it will have less of an impact on your life and those around you. You may have heard a lot about somatics recently. Somatics combines the mind and body focusing on awareness of our internal physical sensations, movements, and experiences It involves an integrative approach to understanding and addressing the connections between mental and physical aspects of well-being. Yoga is one way to practice somatics. Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering, and breathwork are some other ways of managing stress through the body.
