Prayer for the Presidential Candidates
Prayer for the President and Candidate for President (by Stephanie Gidigbi)
To our God, the God of our forefathers and foremothers.

To the God of our ancestors, who cried out unto you, upon arrival on the first ships of the shores that we now call the United States of America.
To the God who covered us in grace, a grace that is sufficient and made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). We stand, we kneel, we prostrate, we cry out to you.
We call on you, oh God! As so many continue to do, with the rising of the sun, with each new day, with the dusk of evening sky, and in the moonlight of the night.
We ask that your light continue to guide us and our nation’s leaders by faith! During this time of a global pandemic. This time of racial reckoning. This time of economic crisis and tumult for so many people, we pray for our President Donald J. Trump and Presidential Democratic Candidate Joseph R. Biden in this election season. We ask that you speak to their hearts. We pray for their families, advisors, and enemies. God grant them wisdom and discernment.
God, your word says if your people, who are called by your name would humble themselves, pray, seek your face, and turn from our wayward ways, then we will hear from heaven, and you will forgive our sins and heal our nation (2 Chron 7:14)
Grant our current President and the one who will follow an understanding heart, spiritual vision, a balanced mind, a heart of faith, devotion through the holy spirit and wisdom. Grant him spiritual strength to resist temptations.
Fill him with the fruit of your spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control (Galatians 5:23) It is difficult to lead a divided nation. So, God we ask that you unite us. Grant us understanding and faith in equality. Free us, and free our leaders of anything that is not of you.
We pray over our President and the President to come! God, we pray over the future leader of this nation, and we pray over this land.
Amen
