Patient Health, Not Just oral health Presented by Dr. Richard Nagelberg | Friday, June 22, 2012 | 3 CEUs GVSU Eberhard Center, Downtown Grand Rapids | Registration: 7:30-8:00am | Seminar 8:00-11:00am Dr. Nagelberg will discuss current concepts of periodontal disease development and progression including: biofilm, bacterial invasion of the gingiva, the immuno-inflammatory response and risk factor identification and management. The interconnections between periodontal disease, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes, will also be examined. The presentation concludes with a discussion of salivary diagnostics and the incorporation of research finds into daily practice to enhance patient care. At the conclusion of this program, attendees should understand the impact dental professionals have on patient health beyond the oral cavity, the mechanism of periodontal disease and development and the immune-inflammatory response, risk management to maximize clinical outcomes and interconnections between oral and systemic diseases and their clinical relevance. Dr. Nagelberg is a 1982 graduate of Georgetown University, School of Dentistry. He was named one of the Top Clinicians in Continuing Education by Dentistry Today in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
