FARMINGTON – In a short meeting on Monday, the City Council acted on several routine items, but took a moment to welcome a local police officer returning from an incident that was anything but routine. Jennifer Parkinson, 42, a seven-year veteran of the Farmington police force, returned to work on Sunday, nine months after sustaining serious injuries in a violent confrontation with a domestic-battery suspect on Park Road here, and Chief Carl Powell and the Council presented her with a police Purple Heart. “I have a little more therapy with my vision, and I still get headaches, but I’m back,” she said. “It’s good, really good.” It was a Sunday afternoon last April when Parkinson responded to an emergency call and stopped a truck driven by Austin Foster, 21, of Elmwood.
