Message from the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Wits University, Professor Zeblon Vilakazi

Dear students,

The 2023/24 Students Representative Council (SRC) Election is in full swing with online voting starting on the 19th of September 2023 at 9am.

Please access this site, and exercise your right to Vote, and to thereby shape your Wits experience for 2023/24.

JEROME SEPTEMBER

The SRC is an important structure at the University. It is through the SRC that the issues affecting students are raised in the University’s decision-making structures, including Council, Senate, the Student Services Advisory Committee, the Student Success Committee, and the Finance Committee. Here students have an opportunity to shape University policy, and through regular engagements with the University management. The SRC can positively impact on the experiences of students. Beyond the University, the SRC is also your voice to national structures. By voting, you have a direct say in who will be your voice both in terms of the challenges you face, and in articulating your hopes, dreams and aspirations for the kind of Wits we should be.

Please strengthen the student voice, by giving your new SRC and overwhelming mandate. Let’s put democracy and active citizenship into action. Vote!

I wish to thank the current SRC for their service to the University, and look forward to working with the new team as we look forward to the future!
