NONDUMISO GUNDWANA
Bachelor of Sciences in Mathematics (3rd Year)
“He who opens a school door closes a prison”
Victor Hugo
I am running for SRC to be part of leadership that stands for the hopeless and voiceless. Campus is where we spend so much of our time, hours, days, and months and the least it should feel like is a second home. Yet too many students at Wits face injustices that weigh heavily on their learning and well-being. As Victor Hugo said, “He who opens a school door, closes a prison” yet doors remain closed. Students are not supposed to be fighting adults for the basics. But until they decide that finances should no longer determine our future, we will put our front foot forward and fight with all we have.

“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully.”
- Jim Rohn
Wits is not just a university, it is the best institution in South Africa and Africa, a place where we sharpen our excellence and conquer the Wits Edge. But too many students are left behind by financial strain, academic pressure, and lack of support. I am running for SRC to fight for funding, mental health support, and a truly inclusive campus where every voice matters. Together, we can strengthen Wits’ legacy while ensuring no student is forgotten. Let’s conquer challenges, unlock opportunities, and build a future where we all thrive. Vote for leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.
