The ninth issue of Wits University’s research magazine is themed: Climate Emergency. Our researchers investigate the impact and implications of global change and climate change on people, places, and politics. We interrogate the burning issue of population vs. birth control, the rise of African eco-warriors and show the silver lining in the climate crisis. We unpack green jobs and climate engineering, give some ‘green’ alternatives to dirty words, and explore how heat affects our youth, how your office plants can heal you, and follow the war on waste pickers in South African streets.
