Koverflor Water-based epoxy floor paint is an exceptionally hard-wearing, solvent-free, water-based, 2-pack epoxy floor and wall coating. It contains no organic solvents and has a low odour, with no surface tackiness. This product can be applied directly to damp substrates and offers an extremely high level of abrasion and chemical resistance. It can be used for both interior and exterior, and it can also be used on existing stable paints. Aggregate is mixed with paint or sandwiched between two coats for an anti-slip version.

STANDARD FLOOR PAINTING KIT Designed for efficient and professional floor coating applications, this trade-quality kit provides the essential tools required for applying Koverflor Floor Paints across a wide range of floor areas. The kit includes two ultra-tough 12” (300mm) nylon rollers, offering excellent abrasion and solvent resistance for use with both waterbased and solvent-based coatings, including two-pack systems. A 1.2m extension pole and durable 15” plastic paint tray are included to support easy application across larger areas, while a selection of 12 brushes in various sizes provides precision for cutting in and reaching difficult areas. Wooden mixing sticks are also supplied to ensure the coating is thoroughly mixed before application, helping achieve a consistent and professional finish.
PREMIUM FLOOR PAINTING KIT Designed for professional floor coating applications, the Premium Floor Paint Kit includes everything required to achieve a high-quality finish with Koverflor Floor Paints. The kit includes a durable 15” paint tray, adjustable 1.2m extension pole, 12” metal roller frame and two solvent-resistant rollers, providing smooth and consistent coverage across larger areas. The heavy-duty rollers are designed to withstand the solvents found in epoxy and other specialist floor coatings, helping to deliver an even finish while maintaining excellent durability. The adjustable extension pole allows for comfortable application at different working heights, reducing strain during larger projects. A selection of high-grade brushes is included for cutting in and detailed application, while the drill-compatible mixing attachment ensures coatings are thoroughly mixed before use for optimum performance.

IDENTIFYING YOUR CONCRETE FLOOR
The quality of any floor coating project depends on the preparation carried out before painting begins. Taking the time to properly prepare the surface will help achieve the best finish and maximise the performance of your Koverflor Floor Paint.
New Concrete New concrete must be allowed to cure and dry thoroughly before applying any floor coating. As a general guide, allow one month’s drying time for every inch of concrete thickness, although this can vary depending on site conditions. Before painting, check the moisture content using a suitable moisture meter. A reading of 10% or below on the concrete scale indicates the floor is generally ready for coating. New concrete may also contain laitance, a weak, dusty surface layer caused by excess water or poor curing. This should be removed before applying floor paint to ensure maximum adhesion.
The preparation required will vary depending on the surface type, age and condition of the floor. In many cases, preparation can take longer than the actual painting process, but careful attention at this stage is essential for achieving a durable and professional result.

BEFORE YOU START Before applying any coating, ensure you have selected the correct product for your application and understand the requirements of the coating system being used. Always read the relevant Technical Data Sheet and Health & Safety information before use. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, wax and other contaminants. Check the area to be coated and calculate the amount of paint required, including the number of coats needed.

Ensure suitable protective equipment is worn and adequate ventilation is provided during application.

Power Floated Concrete Power floated concrete has a dense, smooth finish that provides excellent durability but can prevent floor coatings from bonding effectively. The surface will require suitable preparation before applying Koverflor Floor Paint to achieve long-lasting adhesion. Existing Concrete Older concrete floors can become contaminated with dirt, grease and oils, while high-traffic areas may develop a polished surface through wear. Inspect the floor for contamination, cracks or damage before coating to ensure the best possible finish. Previously Painted Concrete Previously painted floors should be checked to ensure the existing coating is sound and firmly adhered. Any loose or flaking paint should be removed, and if the type of existing coating is unknown, a small compatibility test is recommended before recoating. NOTE: Same Batch When completing a single project, always use floor paint from the same batch wherever possible. Slight colour variations can occur between different batches, which may be more noticeable on large floor areas or porous concrete surfaces. Before application, check the batch numbers and ensure the colour is correct. For the best results, always follow the relevant Technical Data Sheet and application guidance.

CLEANING & DISPOSAL
Cleaning & Degreasing All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before painting. Dirt, dust, oil, grease, wax and other contaminants can prevent the coating from bonding correctly and may lead to premature failure. Use a suitable cleaner or degreaser to remove contamination, ensuring all residues from the cleaning process are removed before coating. Areas affected by oil, grease or heavy traffic contamination may require additional cleaning or mechanical preparation to achieve a suitable surface.
Looking After Your Equipment Cleaning your tools correctly after application will help maintain their condition and allow them to be reused.
Removing Loose or Unsuitable Material Any loose, damaged or poorly adhered material must be removed before painting. This includes: Ɍ
Flaking or failing existing coatings.
Ɍ
Weak surface layers such as concrete laitance.
Ɍ
Loose dust, debris or surface contamination.
The surface must be firm and stable to allow the coating to achieve a strong bond. Creating a Suitable Surface Profile Some concrete floors, particularly power floated or highly polished surfaces, can be too smooth for effective coating adhesion. These surfaces may require mechanical preparation, such as grinding or shot blasting, to create a suitable profile for the paint to bond correctly. The aim is to provide a clean, open surface without damaging the underlying concrete. Repairs & Surface Defects Before painting, inspect the floor for cracks, holes, damaged areas or other defects. Any repairs should be completed using a suitable repair compound and allowed to cure fully before applying the coating. A properly repaired surface will help achieve a smoother, more durable finish.
Remove as much excess paint as possible before cleaning. The cleaning method will depend on the type of coating used, water-based products can generally be cleaned with water, while solvent-based coatings will require an appropriate cleaning solvent. Always follow the product recommendations and dispose of any cleaning materials responsibly. Storing Leftover Paint If you have remaining paint, ensure the container is securely sealed and stored in a dry, frost-free location away from direct sunlight. Before storing, check that the lid is properly closed to prevent the product from drying out or becoming contaminated. Keeping unused paint correctly stored will help maintain its condition for future use. Responsible Disposal Do not pour leftover paint, solvents or cleaning materials down drains or into watercourses. Allow small amounts of unwanted paint residue to fully dry before disposal, and dispose of empty or dried paint containers in accordance with local waste regulations. For commercial users or larger quantities, contact your local authority for guidance on suitable disposal and recycling facilities.
