WLHS takes seriously its commitment to keep Christ as the focus in our day-today activities. Paramount to this is the time spent worshipping together in chapel. The theme is also adopted by a majority of our Lutheran elementary schools, which further unites us in our PK-12 partnership.

Tuition Assistance Resources
“I am here to work with you to figure out ways to make WLHS possible for your child,” says Brad Wetzel (’98), director of admissions, 414-453-4567 ext. 1322 or email brad.wetzel@wlhs.org Scholarships • WLHS now has 70+ annual scholarships. The majority are based on financial need. • Scholarships range from $500 to nearly $5,000 and most are available all four years. • Scholarship recipients are also eligible for tuition assistance.
Tuition Assistance • The amount provided ranges from $500 to $6,000 per student, based on financial need and timing of the student’s application.
Milwaukee and Wisconsin Parental Choice Programs (MPCP and WPCP) • WLHS participates in two Parental Choice Programs. Students who qualify can have their tuition costs fully or partially covered by a state voucher. • For MPCP, students must live in Milwaukee. Students who do not live in the City of Milwaukee or the Racine Unified School District can qualify for WPCP on the basis of their residency and family income.
Tuition Reduction with Scrip
• Scrip allows current and future WLHS families, and their relatives, to purchase prepaid Scrip cards and accumulate tuition credit. • Grocery store and gas station Scrip cards are popular. • To register, call 414-453-4567, email scrip@wlhs.org or visit wlhs.org.
529 Plans for K-12 Education • Recent changes have expanded 529 savings plans so they now cover K-12 education expenses. • Parents, grandparents, and other family members can establish a 529 plan at any time.

Sports, clubs, and activities for everyone!
During the past few years, WLHS has significantly expanded its co-curricular offerings. In fact, if students can’t find a group or club that matches their interests, they can request to form a new one; and that’s exactly what junior Angela Marcis did.
New Cooking Club a Hit
Plautz Fund, ViTech Fund & Stock Club
Marcis (’23) started the Cooking Club, which is overseen by Mrs. Jean Curtis, in fall 2021 and received an overwhelming response.

Since 1974, WLHS seniors have had the opportunity to research, monitor, and buy stocks as part of the Lauretta Plautz Fund. In addition, in 2013, thanks to an anonymous donor, the ViTech Fund was established to provide another hands-on experience.
More than 60 students signed up, so the club was arranged into four groups that each gather once a month.
The inaugural meetings took place in November and began by covering important basics – kitchen sanitization and safety guidelines. The students then got to the fun part and made their first recipe – Carmel Apple Cookies. “I wanted to give students who don’t have time in their class schedule the opportunity learn about cooking and baking,” says Marcis. “The culinary world brings me so much joy so that’s why I’m excited to share my passion with others.”
Angela Marcis (’23) is from Edgar, Wisconsin, and lives in Honey Creek Hall. Since she loves to cook, she appreciates all the new cuisines she’s been introduced to thanks to her international dormmates.
The Stock Club is another new activity that started in November 2021. Led by Mr. Andrew Fink (’15) and Mr. Marc Shambeau, the group is open to all students and works to invest $1,000. Students learn about being wise stewards, significant stock indicators, how to mitigate risk, and other stock market basics.
