PUBLISHER’S CORNER CELEBRATE 25 DELICIOUS YEARS OF MIAMI SPICE As a foodie, every year I look forward to Miami Spice. Our city’s signature dining celebration gives food lovers compelling reasons to make reservations, discover new favorites and return to the restaurants they already adore. This year marks the 25th edition of Miami Spice Restaurant Months, running August 1 through September 30. What began in 2002 with only 56 participating restaurants has become one of Miami’s great culinary traditions. This year, more than 300 restaurants across Greater Miami and Miami Beach are offering three-course prix-fixe menus with savings of at least 30 percent. Brunch and lunch menus are priced at $40, while dinner menus range from $50 to $65. This is an irresistible invitation to explore great restaurants for anyone who loves dining out. Miami Spice stretches from longtime neighborhood favorites to glamorous newcomers, celebrated fine-dining rooms and Michelin-recognized destinations such as L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Stubborn Seed, Ariete, Cote Korean Steakhouse, Le Jardinier, Azabu, Double Luck and Tâm Tâm. The 25th anniversary year also introduces Miami Spice Reserve, a new premium tier beginning at $95, designed for elevated prix-fixe and tasting-menu experiences. We started our 2026 Miami Spice experience by having dinner at Double Knot Miami. This striking eatery brings bold Japanese flavors and unmistakable Miami energy together in the heart of Wynwood. From celebrated chef Michael Schulson, this vibrant outpost of the acclaimed Philadelphia original offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese izakaya, with an enticing menu of expertly crafted sushi, sashimi, robatayaki and seasonal specialties. For Miami Spice, Double Knot offers a $65-per-person familystyle dinner made for sharing. We selected from an impressive assortment that included robatayaki skewer Ribeye Scallion; sushi roll Double Knot Big Eye Tuna; crispy dish Japanese Fried Chicken with daikon, miso, and scallion; meat or fish entrée Wagyu Bavette with Japanese sweet potato, miso butter, and bonito; side Black Cod Fried Rice with miso caramel, and edamame; small plate Wagyu Soup Dumpling with ginger, soy, and chili; and cold dish Tuna Tartare with avocado, chili oil, and rice pearl. For its first Miami Spice, OCKAP offers one of the program’s most distinctive menus. It is the only Miami Spice Reserve participant featuring caviar in every course, showcasing its private-label OCKAP Ossetra throughout a three-course experience. We started dinner with a refreshing Gin & Tonic and a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé. Our appetizers were Lobster Roll with Caviar and Charred Citrus Ceviche with Caviar. For entrées, we enjoyed the Crispy Fried Chicken with Caviar and the Ribeye with Caviar. Our sweet tooth was satisfied with the Vanilla Soft Serve, and Chocolate Tart – both with caviar. Rather than simply adding caviar on top, the kitchen at OCKAP builds dishes around it, carefully balancing temperature, richness and acidity so this luxury delicacy remains the star. Our Miami Spice dinner appetizers were Salmon Ceviche with shichimi rice cracker; and Tuna Tataki with truffle mayo and yuzu soy. We enjoyed the Nigiri & Maki Selection; and the New York Steak as entrées, with the Sweet Corn Fried Rice with dried miso and truffle as a side. For desserts, we indulged in the Passionfruit Chawanmushi; and Mini Cheesecake.

For diners who prefer to surrender to the kitchen, Uchiko also offers a ten-course omakase as well as its personalized ‘Somakase’ tasting experience. Our appetizers were Sunomono Salad with cucumber, radish, scallion vinaigrette, green apple, and sesame ponzu; and Ceviche Temaki with chef choice ceviche, jalapeño, and sweet and spicy ponzu. Our entrées were Take Nabe Add Wagyu with seasonal mushroom, koshihikari rice, and farm egg; and the Chicken Satay Salad with hearth grilled chicken, peanut dressing, and cilantro. For desserts, we had the Sundae with coconut and vanilla bean sorbet, chewy strawberries, and candied coconut; and a tasty Chef’s Choice Seasonal Tart.

I have been shopping for a new SUV and came across the new 2027 Kia Telluride while doing my research. Few threerow SUVs have reshaped their segment quite like the Kia Telluride, and for 2027, Kia gave its popular vehicle a significant makeover with a larger, more sophisticated vehicle and available with hybrid power for the first time. The headline is the new 2.5-liter turbo-hybrid powertrain, producing 329 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque while delivering an estimated 35 mpg combined and an impressive 600-mile driving range. A standard 2.5-liter turbocharged engine offers 274 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque. Kia also expanded the Telluride’s dimensions, created additional passenger and cargo room, and elevated the cabin with available relaxation front seats, power-operated second-row captain’s chairs, dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For me, there is nothing quite like the moment the house lights dim, the orchestra strikes its first note, and a Broadway musical begins to work its magic. After decades of watching extraordinary productions on Broadway in New York and at the Arsht Center in Miami and Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, I still feel that same sense of anticipation every time the curtain rises.
