KEN'S QUICK TIPS BY KEN HUNT
10 TIPS TO FALL INTO FITNESS - PART 1 he beginning of fall is like January 1. People make resolutions. Summer is over, and it's easy to get motivated to get into a routine. Here's part one of my 10 workout and nutrition guidelines to ensure you fall into fitness and reach your goals. Stay tuned for part two next week. 1) AEROBIC EXERCISE The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends aerobic exercise three to five days a week for 20 to 60 minutes each session to maximize fitness gains and fat loss. If you're just starting with exercise you may want to take a couple of months to progress slowly into this range. Aerobic activities like walking, running, cycling, swimming, fitness classes, hiking, stair climbing, and rowing will do the trick. These activities expend a lot of energy, and for those of you wanting to lose body fat this should be the focus of your get fit program. The intensity of your aerobic workouts should be at the intensity level of a five to eight rating of perceived exertion on a scale that goes up to 10. This means you should be able to work up a sweat, feel your heart pumping, and be breathing more rapidly. You should also split your weekly aerobic workouts into easy, moderate, and hard days to vary the intensity and train all energy systems. 2) RESISTANCE EXERCISE Regular strength training workouts are critical to maximize fat loss, build bone density, improve posture, develop muscle tone, and slow down the aging process. Luckily, you don't need to spend a lot of time in the weight room. Pick exercises for all the large, major muscle groups and perform just one set of 8 to 15 reps. You should be able to get in and out of the weight room in 20 to 40 minutes. These short muscle-toning workouts are sufficient to achieve the results you're looking for. 3) EAT FIVE SMALL MEALS EACH DAY Studies indicate that when people eat more regularly throughout the day, they are less likely to overeat or indulge in less-healthy choices. Food at regular intervals also maintains a more balanced blood sugar level that keeps your energy levels higher throughout the day. Try to consume smaller meals or snacks every two to three hours during the day. 4) DRINK AT LEAST EIGHT GLASSES OF WATER EVERY DAY Our bodies are 50 to 60 percent water, and when we are dehydrated, our body and its organs and systems don't function at their optimal level. This limits your ability to exercise intensely and ultimately will affect your ability to burn body fat. Many scientists also suggest that headaches, minor aches and pains, low energy, sleeping problems, and injuries may be a result of dehydration. Eight glasses of water each day will replenish the fluids you lose throughout the day as a result of normal human perspiration.

LOOKING GOOD
EDITOR IN CHIEF’S NOTE FASHION UNLEASHED AND LOVING LAS VEGAS eason is in the air! With the official end of summer it is time to start thinking about season and all the fun parties and events that will be coming our way. With that in mind, we decided to focus this week's issue on fashion – since we need to start thinking about what we are going to wear for all the great season activities that are right around the corner. Next week we will bring you a cover story about the start of this year's Broadway Across America season with the opening of Rock of Ages at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. I am interviewing Dominique Scott, who plays the lead role of Drew in Rock of Ages and is a Miami native who studied at the New World School of the Arts and has achieved his dream of making it on Broadway! In this week's issue we give you a sneak peak of Marc Jacobs 2013 Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear Menswear Collection and the new Addicted collection being launched by Spanish designer brand ES, so you can start thinking of your fashion statements for this year's season. Marc Jacobs' collection draws heavily on inspiration from the French Riviera and F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic 1934 novel Tender is the Night, with retro detailing, bold strips and prints. Designer Ed Suner describes the new Addicted collection as “sexy, comfortable, and easy to wear,” and “the little brother to ES.” I just got back from four fabulous, activity-packed days in Las Vegas. I visited Sin City to publish an upcoming special Wire Magazine travel issue about Las Vegas – a favorite destination for many South Floridians, and tourists from around the world who read Wire in print while visiting South Florida and online when they get back home. Las Vegas was a ton of fun. The city is an amazing travel destination that offers the best in entertainment, dining, shopping, wellness, lodging, and, off course, gambling. It is very easy to fly direct from Miami or Fort Lauderdale and both the City and many of the top properties are very welcoming and embracing of the LGBT community. I really enjoyed being in Las Vegas for Pride and Gay Days this past weekend and highly recommend that you take a trip out there if you are looking for a fabulous vacation destination. Here are a couple of pics as a preview to the upcoming Las Vegas travel issue. Cheers,

JOSEY
GREENWELL:
Miami’s New Boy Next Door e’s not exactly one of our native species. But ever since Josey Greenwell was transplanted to South Beach eight months ago, the view has never looked better. Even with this town’s surplus of beautiful faces and smoking hot bodies, it’s hard not to give the blonde Kentucky boy a little more attention than the rest. Just don’t dismiss his Colgate smile or sapphire stare as yet another pretty face. Underneath that ridiculously defined chest beats the heart of a singer/ songwriter determined to be the world’s next pop star. I met up with Josey at Café del Mar on a breezy Wednesday night. “I love the milkshakes here,” he announces before I can even make it through the door. “This was the first place I ever went to the day I moved here.” It’s hard not to catch the untainted optimism in his words, especially when they’re dressed in that sweet southern drawl. But to mistake his glaring positivity for naïveté would be a big mistake. “Kentucky has a very simple way of life.” he tells me while sipping his Frosted Monkey. “I liked growing up there. I think it could be someplace I’d go back to one day, just not right now.” Josey started chasing his dreams where every other aspiring country singer does-Nashville. ”Country music was really all I knew coming out of high school. I was drawn to Nashville because of that. Once I was there my writing started to develop and I started to draw inspiration from all kinds of places and cultures. Then it just developed into pop.” While in Nashville, he signed to an independent record label and released his debut country album, My Life on the Radio. But
My Life on the Radio and “Stuck In My Head” available now on iTunes.
once the label caught wind of his sexual orientation, Josey was dropped and his dreams were crushed. “It was one of the most bittersweet things that has happened to me, because it was ridiculous. But at the same time it allowed me to do my own stuff now. I have a lot more creative freedom than before. So it worked out for the best.” Now that Nashville’s nastiness is just a tiny spec in Josey’s rear view, he’s pointing his GPS to more local connections for his next album. “After I was dropped by my label I decided I was going to finish my project as a pop album and started working with a company in Miami called Circo Massimo. I’ve also been co-writing with other artists. I have one duet pinned down already, but I can’t say who it is yet.” He goes on to say he’s also prepping a remix EP for his current single “Stuck In My Head”. After some gentle grilling about the story behind the song, he coyly admits “Everything’s about something. I think everyone’s had a moment where you see someone, you wanna talk to them, but then you miss them and they’re gone. One thing I’m always conscious of is that a song has a good root to it. Since my writing is based in country I really like to write about feelings and personal experiences. But I still like to keep it free and hook-driven like pop.” Surprisingly, there’s no one special stuck in Josey’s head these days. “I’m pretty single,” he swears. “With all my traveling I haven’t been in Miami long enough to date. But I’m here for now. So who knows?”

tyle cannot be defined by a label. It is universal and forever evolving. Whether you are an avid thrift shopper defining your own style while being glorified by street fashion photographers, a “label whore” feeding your habit with an unfathomable appreciation for designer collections down to the needle & thread, or an up-and-coming designer showcasing your love for fashion through the art of design – fashion is a universal language. Individuality, expression, and liberation are just a few words that come to mind when thinking of fashion. Never able to be contained, or limited, fashion has no boundaries. Designers use personal inspiration, outside influences, or pull from an emotion they may be feeling at the time when compiling timeless collections. For his 2013 Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear Menswear Collection, Marc Jacobs pulled a copious amount of inspiration from the French Riviera and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic 1934 novel, Tender is the Night. Retro detailing, tailored suits, and bold stripes and prints dominate the collection. It also boasts vintage headwear and caps alongside the use of materials such as linen and seersucker in sun-washed hues. If seeking to sport the look of a punk rocker in Jamaica circa 1978, Marc Jacobs has delivered enough safari jackets, long board shorts, linen pea coats, and papaya prints on cabana shirts to put your “character” into motion. A Buick Riviera and rum cocktails on the beach are not included!

his fall, Spanish designer brand ES is unleashing Addicted, a more affordable athletic wear line meant for young guys who want a little edge infused in their sports gear. “The collection is sexy, comfortable and easy to wear, “ says designer Ed Suner. “It’s being called the little brother to ES, which I can agree with. It’s more playful and reckless.” According to Suner, Addicted maintains ES’ sporty style and superior fit but at prices more accessible to college-aged consumers. Addicted pieces range from $18.00 to $70.00; with most items less than $30.

“The quality of Addicted is far superior to comparable brands,” confirms Nir Zilberman, CEO of Men’s Trends Agency. “The only difference is in the fabric. Where ES uses the fine Italian fabrics used by Prada, Gucci and similar high end designer brands, Addicted exports less expensive cotton and modal fabrics from Spain and Portugal.” “The same team that designs for ES designs for Addicted,” continues Suner. Yet, Addicted’s lower price point allows the designers to have more fun with the brand. Says Zilberman, “It’s hard to believe the designers of ES, known for their bold innovation, are pushing boundaries even further; but they are with Addicted.” Addicted was the first to introduce stretch mesh to long pants. As they do with the shorts and briefs, the mesh hugs the contours of the man’s frontal pouch and rear. Additionally, its full back coverage works to push the buttocks up, giving it a well-defined, muscular shape. They have also incorporated the stretch mesh in many of their tops. Aimed at shaping a man’s upper chest, tanks are looser around the waist (more forgiving to love handles) yet tighter around the arms and chest. It gives the illusion of a bigger upper build. “Autumn tends to be a time many of us feel the need to cheat on our diets and workout routines,” says Zilberman. “Addicted’s fall collection is designed to be forgiving so no one has to know.” 11 | wire magazine | issue #37, 2012 | www.wireweekly.com | facebook | twitter

THE MAGIC OF MARILYN MONROE @ WEAM arilyn Monroe, one of the most recognizable and iconic female figures of our time, left behind timeless films and photos that are praised and emulated till this day. While we may be familiar with the pseudonym “Monroe,” the blonde bombshell that took the world by storm, how familiar are you with Norma Jean? Does the name “Bernard of Hollywood” ring a bell? WEAM brings you the evolution of the iconic starlet showcased through 27 rare photos of Marilyn Monroe taken by the internationally known and famed photographer Bruno Bernard. In the first ever solo museum showing of The Magic of Marilyn; you’ll have the opportunity to experience a side of Marilyn never captured by other photographers, but rather by the man who “discovered” her. The experience will be further enhanced as Susan Bernard, the daughter of Bruno Bernard, will be reading from her book Marilyn: Intimate Exposures, an elegantly illustrated collection of photos capturing Monroe’s timeless beauty through photographs taken by her legendary father. Bernard will be joined by WEAM Artistic Director Helmut Schuster as the two will revisit the 50th anniversary of Monroe’s passing. We got the chance to talk with WEAM Founder Naomi Wilzig to find out more about The Magic of Marilyn exhibit.

rbitrage, writer-director Nicholas Jarecki’s slick first fictional feature, is just getting started (that is to say, Wall Street kingpin Robert Miller has celebrated his sixtieth birthday, kept an important merger alive although he’s indictably short of funds, and killed his mistress in a fiery car accident) when the NYPD’s most rumpled detective, Michael Bryer (Tim Roth) shows up at Miller's office and starts asking questions. Miller (Richard Gere) gives nothing away, but Bryer notices a scar on Miller's head, just at the hairline: BRYER: What happened to your head? MILLER: I hit it on the medicine cabinet. BRYER: I hate when that happens. This is the problem with Arbitrage: It's timely, it’s got visual panache and its got star power (Gere and Roth and Sarandon, oh my!); what Arbitrage doesn't have is surprises, astonishments, or thrills. Jarecki's characters are by the numbers, his situations seen-this-before, his dialogue -- we just covered that, right? The whole thing is seriously beenthere-done-that. You want clichés? Consider Miller's mistress, Julie, a French artist (Laetitia Casta). She's the kind of mistress who gets pissed off when her cheating boyfriend spends his birthday with his family be-

fore he drops by her place. (Get a grip honey! They never spend birthdays and holidays with the mistress)! Jarecki wants Arbitrage to be a fable for the Age of Inequality, a parable illustrating how the top ten percent of the top One Percent got there -- and how they stay put. Maybe he's trying to present universal figures and too much character development would cloud his symbolism. Or maybe his script just needed a polish, an once-over, a little pepping up. Jarecki casts a lot better than he writes. Gere's Miller is a Wall Street animal, emphasis on animal: So sleek, so smooth, so deadly and calculating behind those watchful eyes. There isn't enough of Susan Sarandon and Roth's Bryer is a cynical slouch who's fun to watch. But for all its stars, for all its style and good intentions, for all its indie spirit, Arbitrage plays like a very special episode of TV's Law & Order. I hate when that happens.
