The new theme for 2025 is ‘Embrace Your Journey’ and it invites attendees to explore and honor their unique paths through a whimsical, immersive experience inspired by Alice in Wonderland, where you will step into a world of wonderment with an enchanting, themed decor, and characters from this beloved classic story—in an inclusive space where you can freely celebrate individuality, unity, and self-expression.

Sasha Colby, who is one of this year’s Miami Beach Pride Grand Marshals along with RaeShanda Lias, will lead the quintessential Pride Parade on April 6, and then deliver a show-stopping main stage performance later in the day. You will also be able to enjoy 11 days of diverse events leading up to the Festival so visit miamibeachpride.com for additional information, event schedules, and updates about Miami Beach Pride 2025.
We sat down with Miami Beach Pride Director of Sponsorships and Community Engagement Rob Legere and DJ Joshua Ruiz to give you a preview of this year’s Pride fête.
170,000 attendees, the Festival will feature an array of exhibitors, community activations, and pavilions catering to diverse interests and identities.
RC: When and where are you performing during the 2025 Miami Beach Pride?
DJ Joshua Ruiz: I'll be making my pride debut at the Lummus Park HEALTHYMD dance stage on Sunday, April 6th, 2-5 p.m.!
RC: Tell our readers about any new events you recommend attending.
RL: We’re excited to introduce several new and reimagined experiences this year! Our Mad Hatter’s VIP Tea Party on April 4 in Lummus Park will offer an exclusive, immersive tea party with live entertainment, an open bar, and delicious light bites. The In the Wyld event is a must-attend for women and allies looking to connect in a powerful and celebratory space. Additionally, our forum-style panel will feature expert voices discussing key issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, providing a meaningful space for advocacy and dialogue. And, of course, our Alice in Wonderland-themed art exhibit will be a visual and interactive highlight of the Festival!
Rafa Carvajal: What should Miami Beach Pride attendees expect for this year's festivities?
Rob Legere: Miami Beach Pride 2025 will be our most immersive and vibrant celebration yet! Attendees can expect two full days of Festival magic, a spectacular parade, and dynamic performances across three stages, including the Delta Entertainment Stage. RC: What should Miami Beach Pride attendees expect from your performance at Pride?
DJR: Attendees should expect some feel good tunes, thumping drums and, of course, that Miami flare we all love! I love playing in Miami because it allows me to really showcase my Latin roots through my music!
RC: Why do you think it is so important for everyone in our LGBTQ community to participate in Miami Beach Pride?
RL: Pride is more than a celebration—it’s a statement of resilience, unity, and love. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are facing renewed challenges, coming together as a community is more crucial than ever. Miami Beach Pride is a platform where we can amplify our voices, support one another, and show the world that we will not be erased. Whether you’re marching in the parade, enjoying performances, or engaging with community resources, your presence at Pride reinforces the message that we are here, we are proud, and we will continue to fight for our rights.
DJR: Miami Beach is one of the last LGTBQ strongholds left in Florida and one of the oldest in the country! So much of our history is rooted in Miami Beach, and so many have worked tirelessly to preserve the culture in the island... So please, if you can, come out and dance with us and show us your PRIDE!
RC: What does Pride mean to you right now that our rights are under such threat?
RL: Pride, to me, represents resistance and unwavering solidarity. It’s a reminder that the LGBTQ+ community has always faced adversity with courage, and we will continue to push forward together. In today’s climate, where legislation and rhetoric often seek to undermine our progress, Pride is a bold declaration that we will not back down. It’s about honoring those who paved the way before us while ensuring a safer, more inclusive future for the next generation.
DJR: Pride has always meant so much to me. I remember my early days in the scene and seeing how proud and secure gay men were at the time, and how much I longed to have that in my life one day. Unfortunately, times have changed drastically, and that confidence and safety seems like an afterthought for many. So, this year, Pride to me is a combination of joy, resistance, and the recognition that our love and our lives are valid, no matter what forces are trying to diminish or erase them.
RC: What are you looking forward to the most for the 2025 Miami Beach Pride?
RL: I’m most excited about seeing our community come together and experience the magic we’ve created this year. The ‘Embrace Your Journey’ theme is truly special, and I can’t wait for attendees to step into our Wonderland-inspired world, connect with each other, and celebrate in an environment that uplifts and empowers. Seeing the joy, love, and energy of Miami Beach Pride firsthand is always the most rewarding part of this experience.
DJR: I'm really looking forward to performing in front of my friends and family who have been on this musical journey with me since day one! Miami Beach was home to me for many
years, and I attended my first Pride event here in my early 20's, so to be coming back to play for Pride is such an honor!
RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers?
RL: I’d love to encourage everyone to not only attend but to actively engage with the many aspects of Pride—whether it’s supporting our LGBTQ+ businesses and sponsors, attending our panel discussions, or simply showing up for each other. Miami Beach Pride is a movement, and your participation makes a difference. Join us as we celebrate, advocate, and embrace the journey together. We can’t wait to welcome you!
DJR: I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making this happen year after year. Miami Beach Pride is one of the best in the country and to have just a small part in it is truly humbling.

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) prestigious Miami Film Festival will take place April 3-13. Meet the Barbarians will open the Festival with director Julie Delpy attending to receive the Festival’s Impact Award, and it will close April 12 with On Swift Horses, directed by Daniel Minahan. The 42nd annual Festival will screen over 198 narratives, documentaries, and short films of all genres, from over 45 countries worldwide, including 35 World Premieres, two International Premieres, nine North American Premieres, three U.S. Premieres, 21 East Coast Premieres, and 72 Florida Premieres. You can also attend some very popular events.
According to Festival Executive Director James Woolley, “This year’s lineup features a captivating mix of compelling narratives, must-see documentaries, and innovative short films, delivering an exceptional selection to our local community. The Miami Film Festival is thrilled to invite audiences back for another year filled with unforgettable screenings and thought-provoking discussions.”
Some of the film program highlights for this year include screenings of Amazon MGM Studios’s Another Simple Favor, The Salt Path, starring Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson, Edson Jean’s Miami-set Know Me - The Untold Miami Bath Salts Phenomenon, The Wedding Banquet, starring Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone; plus a number of films with LGBTQ themes— some of which are highlighted below.
Visit miamifilmfestival.com to view the full line-up and to purchase tickets.
Arenas (Les arènes): At just 18 years old, Brahim, a promising young footballer, is preparing to realize his dream: signing his first professional contract in Lyon, his club, his city, but when a mysterious and powerful agent Francis (Édgar Ramírez) disrupts the negotiations, Brahim embarks on a race against time on the transfer market, where anything goes.
Duino: Writer/co-director/actor Juan Pablo di Pace (Mamma Mia!) weaves a semi-autobiographical tale of recapturing your first love as Matías, an Argentine filmmaker, attempts to finish a film about his teenage romance with Swedish classmate Alexander at a European boarding school. Matías returns to Italy to hopefully put an end to the ghosts that have haunted him for the past 20 years because Alexander abruptly left without a word. The film is exquisitely shot in the titular seaside resort.
The Librarians: In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQ+ stories—triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of White Christian Nationalism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work, the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.
On Swift Horses (Closing Night Film): Muriel and her husband Lee are beginning a bright new life in California when he returns from the Korean War, but their newfound stability is upended by the arrival of Lee’s charismatic brother, Julius, a wayward gambler with a secret past. A dangerous love triangle quickly forms. Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva star in this Toronto Film Festival breakout about the American West and queer love.
Pink Narcissus (Retrospective): One of the landmarks of both avant-garde and queer cinema, Pink Narcissus returns to the big screen in a ravishing new 4k restoration! Filmed almost entirely at a New York City loft over the course of seven years, this eye-popping fever dream depicts the lurid desires of a narcissistic young hustler, played by Bobby Kendall, as he enters an erotic fantasy world of biker boys, matadors, and belly dancers.
