BY THOMAS BARKER

WIRE MAGAZINE: WHERE HOT MODELS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, AND SEXINESS COMBINE! With the arrival of Independence Day Weekend comes our highly anticipated quarterly Hot Models Calendar Issue. Every quarter, we work with some of the most talented photographers in the biz to showcase some of the sexiest models of today, and let me tell you, every quarter it just seems to get hotter and hotter and hotter! For this quarter’s Hot Models Calendar, we decided to partner with two of our favorite photographers, Jorge Freire and Abel Cruz, and one of our favorite models, Jose Carlo Baptista. You may recognize these names, because we have fea tured their work a number of times in the pages of Wire Magazine and for good reason: these guys just contin ue to get better and better with their work and somehow manage to still find beautiful men to photograph. Let’s just say, we cannot get enough! We first featured Jorge Freire in the first Hot Models Cal endar of 2011. In the feature we learned that the Cuban born photographer moved here in 1980 from Havana and eventually developed a fascination with photogra phy at an early age. From what he says, it wasn’t just the camera that peaked his interest! “I took photography as an elective in my senior year of high school, explains Jorge. “It gave me an excuse to

approach the hottest boy in school and capture him in all his glorious youth. I still have those pictures on my desk. His beautiful blond hair and brown eyes started me on a journey. We became great friends but lost touch about 12 years ago.

(PET$IJTFMFECPEJFTin provocative poses evoke sensu ality and definitely spark a little fire within oneself. When asked what his favorite thing is about shooting someone, Abel responded with “My favorite thing is cre ating. Whether there is a story line or not, when a strong image comes about from a shoot, you just feel it. I love working together with the models and creating. I truly be lieve that it’s as much the models effort as the photogra phers that make these incredible images. We both would be nothing without the other. I have been lucky to have worked with a few celebrities and amazing models.

“I have also always loved the whole dark room thing and developing of the negatives. There’s just something so incredible about watching your pictures develop before you. Four years ago I got my first digital camera. It was a totally different monster, but being able to see my work milliseconds after I took it was magical!

And we are certainly lucky too! As you will soon see in the pages of this week’s issue, Abel has definitely cap tured something beautiful in each and every shot fea tured in our Hot Models Calendar Issue.

And when it comes to what Jorge hopes to accomplish with his photography, he stated, “I hope to inspire fu ture photographers the way other photographers have inspired me.

Finally, we first met Jose Baptista through Jorge Freire as well. He just seems to be the glue that holds all that is gorgeous together in Miami!

Now Abel Cruz is definitely someone I was excited to work with. After being introduced to him by his boyfriend Jorge Freire, I have become a huge fan. As a natural born artist, Abel has constantly looked for mediums that would allow him to express his more creative side. From theater to interior design to writing, Abel has seemed to dabble in it all. Four years ago, upon the insistence of his boyfriend, Abel discovered the amazing world of photography and has been hooked ever since. Over the past few years, Abel has refined his skills, while photographing some of the sexiest models in the business. Looking through IJTQPSUGPMJPJTMJLFMPPLJOHUISPVHIBDPMMFDUJPOPG(SFFL

After perusing Jorge’s photos, we stumbled across a set of images of this Latin Adonis, sporting nothing more than a pair of sunglasses and a skimpy white Speedo. We immediately knew that this was to be the cover shot for one of the biggest issues of the year – The Winter Party Issue! Overall, we have a pretty sexy calendar, created for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy!

How much influence does your old life in Africa have on the music you’re making today?

What can we expect from your performance at Vagabond? Will you be DJing, singing, or both?

I actually come from the Cape Verde Islands, which are located 500 kilometers off the coast of Senegal. There is a big influence in my music because of where I’m from. It’s very important to me to keep those elements alive. It’s interesting because there is a big movement in African dance music right now and while everyone is jumping on board, this is a part of my culture‌ so much so that I started a music label with my partner Antonello Coghe. NuLu Music has been head strong on this movement for almost three years now. We’ve been signing young tal ent from Mozambique, Angola, Congo, and South Af rica just to name a few. You can find NuLu Music, on Traxsource. How would you describe your style? The DJ world used to be very difficult for a woman to break into. What do you think about it now? I think it’s gotten better, but there’s definitely room for more improvement. Do you think you can give some of the male DJs a run for their money? I would love to be given the opportunity! Which do you like best: DJing, producing, or singing? As an artist I love doing them all! Each one is an exten sion of my creative being, I feel very blessed that I can do them all. Do you currently have a regular appearance anywhere? Yes, Louie and I are about to start our second year resi

Expect to dance your ass off! But you’ll have to come down and see what I do. Where can we buy your music? You can find “ANANESWORLDâ€? and “ANANESWORLD REMIX COLLECTIONâ€? on iTunes and Traxsource. “ANANESWORLDâ€? is the essence of who I am. These are my hopes, my aspirations, and my dreams. It’s my global expression‌ soundtracks to moments in my life. What does the future have in store for AnanĂŠ? *WFXSJUUFOBNPWJF XIJDIJTBUIJSUZQBHFUSFBUNFOU5IF soundtrack is already done. I’ve also been writing for my second album “Peace, Love & Musicaâ€? and continuing to expand NuLu Music with great music. What advice would you give to all the women out there trying to break into the business as either recording artists or DJ/producers? Stay true to you! Don’t follow trends! Is there anything else you’d like to say to your fans in Miami? Thank you for giving me such wonderful support. I look forward to seeing all of you July 2nd at The Vagabond!
