While we may look to the sweltering heat as of symbol of Summer Solstice, nothing could possibly mark the summer season more than the beloved male swimsuit; quintessential Miami at its finest, locals and tourists alike begin shedding layers as the peak of spring begins foreshadowing a temperature transition, prompting the provocateur in us all. A staple of Miami fashion dating back as early as the ‘80s, beach babes, bodybuilders and everything in between embraced the infamous Lycra Speedos of the ‘80s, while prominent brands of the era − Catalina, Speedo, Stedman, Jockey and Waverider − dominated men’s swimwear fashion. The revival of surfing culture followed in the ‘90s, popularizing the board short, but Brazilian culture was at the heels of the trend, offering men distinguishable options on the market that left very little to the imagination.
