What happens when the happy-go-lucky – if stereotypical – nature of gay men in American society is cast aside and replaced by something darker, edgier and more dangerous? That’s just what is going to be explored in Angry Fags, Topher Payne’s dark comedy, when it arrives at Wilton Manors’ Island City Stage, beginning November 12 at the newly refurbished Abyss Theatre. The play comically explores what happens when the quest for acceptance and tolerance for LGBT people goes well beyond rallies and protests and manifests more personally – and viscerally.
