Ever since Madonna crawled across the stage in her "virginal" wedding dress during MTV’s Video Music Awards debut 31 years ago, it has become the most watched and talked about awards show in the world. However, with all the fashion misfires, girl-on-girl action and on-stage twerking hogging the spotlight over the years, it’s easy to forget what this night is really about – giving our favorite artists a good ego grinding.
We already know Beyoncé is the reigning queen of the nominations this year – eight, to be exact. But she may be giving up some of those moon men to Iggy Azalea, who’s got seven noms of her own. Additionally, with Lady Gaga on deck to accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, we can expect some serious diva drama this year. Like everyone else, I’ll be glued to my seat this Sunday waiting to see who’ll follow in Miley’s tragic twerk-steps, but for now these are my picks for the VMA’s other movers and shakers of 2014.
