Sandra was born in Flint Michigan, the family moved to Arizona when she was still young and by high school, she was already the "funny girl" among her peers. After working on a kibbutz in Israel following high school, she soon afterward moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career. She went from being a popular and frequent performer at the Comedy Store to being plucked to be a supporting player on The Richard Pryor Show in 1977. She hit the talk show circuit as a result, before landing what could be considered her breakthrough moment...
