Wire Magazine celebrates the time-honored tradition of summertime beach reading this week, with a look at five seasonal novels appealing to gay men. In addition to a brief overview of these key summer reads, Wire Editor Michael W. Sasser interviewed Michael Nava about his book The City of Palaces, which was named "Best Latino Novel" by the 2015 International Latino Book Awards. Nava discusses his book, his mystery series featuring a gay protagonist and his challenges as a gay Latino author. Notably, Nava said that digital publishing has actually helped authors of gay fiction reach audiences. "Fortunately for us writers, the big publishers no longer have a monopoly on book distribution and promotion and we can find our readers with those publishers," Nava shared.
