María Eva Duarte de Perón, a.k.a. Evita, was born in the village of Los Toldos in the Pampas of rural Argentina and went on to become one of the most iconic women of the last century – beloved by many of her fellow citizens and despised by her enemies. At 15 years of age, Evita moved to the beautiful city of Buenos Aires to pursue her dream of becoming a stage, radio and film actress. I am sure she never imagined how gigantic her stage would become as President Juan Perón’s wife and First Lady of Argentina, and as heroine of a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
