One of the nation's greatest dance troupes and foremost cultural institutions, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, is returning to South Florida. From February 19-22, the company will take up brief residence at the Au-Rene Theater at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Performances will include material choreographed by Ailey himself, as well as more recent pieces, in offering a wide array of art and expression.
I caught up with a native Miamian and widely acclaimed member of the troupe, Jamar Roberts, to discuss the upcoming performances, his homecoming and career to date.
