Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns by popular demand to enthrall South Florida audiences with the grace and bravura of its revered dancers, led by artistic director and Miami native Robert Battle. Wire Magazine Editor Michael Sasser sat down with Robert to discuss the program coming to the Arsht Center and his career to date — including the South Florida premiere of Robert Battle’s Awakening, a piece co-commissioned by the Arsht Center with lead sponsor support from Ira and Carole Hall. Awakening is the first piece created by Robert for the company since becoming artistic director.
