t's been just over two years since we interviewed Khuslen Khan in November 2015 and showcased two sexy photos of him by renowned photographer David Vance on the cover and centerfold of Wire Magazine. David recently did another photo shoot of Khuslen, so we decided to turn his beautiful photos into our first special Calendar issue of 2018. We also sat down with Khuslen for an in-depth interview to find out how his life and career have evolved since he was last on the cover of Wire Magazine. Rafa Carvajal: For those who missed our last interview, tell us a bit about yourself. Khuslen Khan: Well, if you haven't seen my last interview, my name is Khuslen Khan. I'm from Mongolia and moved to the States when I was 9 years old. Honestly speaking, I'm just like anyone else. I'm human, I have insecurities, I have doubts and everything you guys reading this have. I'm no different just because you see me on Instagram, which is @khuslen_khan, if you do want to check me out, ha-ha. I'm just a person trying to make it, so to speak, and have a better life. I was not born from a well-off family, the complete opposite actually.

I was born in Mongolia in the '90s under mostly poor conditions and people living in poverty. Now it's a completely different story though. Most of my family is doing much better, and I know that isn't easy to say without hard work or struggle. I can honestly say that I'm very happy with how I'm doing, except financially, but I have my mom and dad who are the most important thing to me

RC: What do you do for a living currently? KK: Right now, I have a few jobs. One of them is working with my friends in the cryptocurrency/stock market, I also train a few people here and there, and do inventory for the restaurant my mom's been at for the last 15 years. I work hard for what I have, and don't expect handRC: How have you evolved as a model and outs. I also would like to think that I manage my money better than most, since I'm not a flashy person since we last spoke in 2015? KK: Since 2015, I have grown not just as a person. He also just got first place in a racing event in Las Vegas. He's such a badass. in the world. Also, I'm not too focused on material things. Don't get me wrong, who doesn't like having nice things? But I can honestly live without the flashy things in life. I also like to make people laugh and feel that it's okay to talk to me about anything!
RC: What do you enjoy the most about modeling for photography? KK: You can say what I enjoy most about modeling and photography is how the hard work I put in comes out to fruition in a snap or picture. But honestly, besides the likes on Instagram or whatever people think, the moment I show my mom and dad and see how happy they get when they see their son in a magazine makes me the happiest of all. RC: Where would you travel if you could go anywhere? KK: I would like to travel Alaska, or anywhere to see the northern lights or aurora borealis. First because it's beautiful, and second because it's amazing how it actually occurs when the magnetosphere is disturbed by solar wind, the charged particles in both solar wind and magneto plasma because of earth's magnetic field. Yeah, I looked this up when I was first amazed by it at 12 years old, so it's on my bucket list. RC: What do you enjoy the most about working with David Vance? KK: Working with David Vance is like working with your best friend at a shitty job, meaning he is the only one making it worth going there. In other words, I love him and his personality to death.
RC: What is your current struggle? KK: I feel like everyone at a point in their mid 20s, which is still learning and growing. We should always be learning and growing, like a quote I heard "People are the only life form to RC: How do you stay in such great shape? COME ONE, COME ALL THE GREATEST SHOWMAN: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
n case you haven't heard yet, the circus is in town. No, I don't mean Cirque du Soleil. I'm talking about The Greatest Showman, the colorful story of a man whose wild imagination turned him into the world's most famous entertainer. In the Michael Gracey-directed film, Hugh Jackman retracts his Wolverine claws for a minute to play P.T. Barnum, father of the legendary Barnum & Bailey circus. As the onscreen adventures unfold, Jackman is joined by Zac Efron and a band of misfits who come together to build what eventually becomes known as "The Greatest Show on Earth." As if featuring two of Hollywood's hottest hard-bodies wasn't enough to make us run to theaters screaming, "Take my money!" We also get the extra treat of watching them flex their voices too. That's right! You can add The Greatest Showman to the list of new musicals to hit the big screen. So, who do you call when you've got a musical in need of some original songs? Enter Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the genius lyricists responsible for penning songs for La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen and many other productions from the stage to the screen. This time around, the Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning duo have woven their most in- are delivered by The Voice season 3 veteran, Loren Allred and Tony Award-nominee Keala Settle. PALACE RINGS IN 2018 in Royal Style
alace Bar is celebrating 2018 in grand style fit for a queen with a New Year's Eve ball at their new 1052 Ocean Drive permanent location. Harmonica Sunbeam and Joanna James will host with performances by Tiara Love Dupree, Elishaly D'Witshes, Kalah Mendoza, Shanaya Bright and Melissa Plastic Hilton. The New Year's packages start at $95 for a three-course prix fixe dinner that includes a choice among two appetizers, four main courses, and two desserts, as well as a glass of Veuve Clicquot. There's also an Ă la carte option for $130, if you prefer it. Owner Thomas Donall and his famous Palace drag queens have a lot to celebrate this year. In the spring, when Donall announced the restaurant would be relocating, the community feared it meant the end of the long-standing mecca of food, drinks, and entertainment in Miami Beach. At its final blowout celebration on July Fourth, Donall vowed to bring it back at "a bigger location that has a hotel and make it an LGBTQ center."

Earlier this month, he made good on his promise, re-opening Palace in a new home right on Ocean Drive. He had spent months driving up and down Ocean Drive on his scooter, talking to property owners. He had even considered spots off Ocean Drive, but realized they wouldn't do. "If I took Palace off the Drive, it wouldn't be the same Palace." The space he chose was one of the first locations he looked at. "It's perfect. It's a much larger space with indoor and outdoor seating areas and a front patio with awnings that will allow the queens to perform like never before." That's a big statement, considering an average weekend at the old Palace involved queens doing flips and splits in the street and running marathons in the park.

Palace's storied past stretches back to 1988, when Steve Palsar first opened the restaurant in a Miami Beach much different from the city we know and love today. Back then there were no restaurants on Ocean Drive. Everyone thought Palsar was crazy to introduce one, but Palsar called 1200 Ocean Drive his "little slice of heaven." It would usher in a whole new era that would eventually lead to cafes up and down the street. Upon opening, Palace began catering to the city's gay population, including designer Gianni Versace who had just moved to Ocean Drive, a block away from Palace. He would often bring his friends to eat: stars like Luciano Pavarotti, Elton John, Madonna, and even royalty like Princess Diana. Ocean Drive became a hot spot for the celebrity and fashion set and Palace stood at its epicenter. By the turn of the millennium, however, the heyday had ended and the restaurant and bar were in decline. Thomas Donall, a nightclub owner and designer from Michigan, took over in 2007. In addition to launching a major renovation of the restaurant, he introduced daily drag on-the-street shows, weekly T-Dances, and Palace's now famous drag brunch. In the last ten years, Donall has also given financially to the community, contributing over $2 million to charitable causes including the Task Force, Miami Pride and Care Resource; and he has watched as Palace has evolved from a spot mostly frequented by the gay community to a place where families from around the world come to enjoy its shows. "I love that Palace never went mainstream. Mainstream came to us. With greater acceptance, the future looks brighter than ever." "It's good to be home again," he continues from Palace's new location, where he, the staff and the drag queen performers are feverishly preparing for the upcoming ball. "We have a 20-year lease, so we're here to reign supreme for a long, long time."
