This week we bring you our annual Pride Around the World special issue, where we highlight some of the many Pride celebrations that take place worldwide. These Pride festivities and parades celebrate the LGBT community and the hard fought battles for our community’s equal rights country by country. Much is still to be done in many countries — where being gay means you are constantly at the mercy of discrimination and even physical violence. The laws protecting the rights of LGBT people in some countries are as advanced, or more, than in the United States, but in many nations those legal protections and the rights afforded by them simply do not exist.
